Interview With Mats Kittelsen of Framferd

Lost in a sea of email, I discovered I had gotten a response from Framferd's vocalist and guitarist Mats Kittelsen regarding the Hammerslag Festival interviews we had sent out. Mats cautions that his English isn't that good, but it certainly isn't that bad, so I've posted the interview unedited. Here are his responses to my questions:

deathbringer: Originating from the same town, Tønsberg, Norway, as the Hammerslag Vinterblot, does this festival have any special meaning to you?

Mats Kittelsen: Of course Hammerslag has a special meaning to me; not only is this festival "the birth child" of my manager and good friend Bjørn Almar, it is also a statement that "metal heads" exist in Tønsberg ( even though some tries to deny it..)

deathbringer: You've released only a two-song demo so far. When do you expect to record more material for a public release?

Mats Kittelsen: We have just started to record our upcoming album. When it will be released, and by whom we don't know yet! I think it's going to be a killer! He he

deathbringer: Have you reached a record deal from the release of this demo?

Mats Kittelsen: No, we're still looking for a deal, so if anyone is interested feel free to contact us!

deathbringer: How much material have you written and have available to choose your set list from for the Hammerslag Festival?

Mats Kittelsen: We have a lot of material ready, but since we only have about 30min to play at Hammerslag we will do 5-6 songs. I will not ruin the surprise by mention which songs, you have to come and see for you self! He he, but it's going to be a kick ass show!

deathbringer: Who will be filling the empty guitarist slot for Hammerslag? Do you have someone in mind for the festival or a permanent replacement yet?

Mats Kittelsen: Langbach is going to join us for one last performance, and he has guarantied that he will give the audience hell! We all will do!!! He he

deathbringer: What bands have influenced on your sound and style the most?

Mats Kittelsen: I can only answer which bands that have influenced me throughout the years. You have all the Norwegian black metal bands like: Mayhem, Emperor, Immortal, Arcturus, Enslaved, and the list could go on forever. But I would like to mention Abyssos (from Sweden), and all time favourite Slayer (über alles)!

deathbringer: Do any of the band members have formal music training?

Mats Kittelsen: To be honest I don't know. I took some keyboard lesions when I was younger (it's nothing I like to brag about.) he he

deathbringer: If you could tour with any band, who would you tour with?

Mats Kittelsen: Slayer and King Diamond

deathbringer: What are you immediate plans for Framferd after playing Hammerslag Fest?

Mats Kittelsen: Finnish the record and hit the road!

deathbringer: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview. Do you have any last words for our readers?

Mats Kittelsen: Metalunderground kicks ass! "Selv den døve kan høre djevelens fele." \m/
