According to PunkNews.org, DEFTONES have been confirmed as the headliners of the 2006 edition of the Taste of Chaos tour. The popular alternative metal act recently released their "B-Sides & Rarities" DVD+CD compilation which included the band's interpretations of JAWBOX, HELMET, THE SMITHS and DURAN DURAN, as well as various rarities.
The band are continuing to work on new material for their 2006 full-length which is expected in the spring. It will be their first since 2003's "Deftones".
The Taste of Chaos tour, organized by Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, will soon complete their first year of shows. The inaugural bill included THE USED, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and SENSES FAIL. The European edition of the tour will begin shortly.

you guys need to get your facts right before commening. mcr and all the other gay emo bands were on last years tour. this years tour will have metal bands such as the deftones and possibly atreyu. killswitch were also on last years line up. by the way ... deftones rule.

let me take this a step further,.first off, atreyu is far from being metal at this point, they reak of emo,.......secondly,this tour is absolute garbage, not that the others were good, just that this one is super emo'ed up,killswitch is the only band worth half a sh** in the lineup

I happen to like some of the Deftones output and while some of their influences include proto-emo bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, etc. they still bring the heavy sh**.
"Teething", "Elite", "Damone", "Engine # 9" are some of the most intense songs I've heard from any band ever, and I've listened to many, many, many bands.
So they're entitled to this limp-wristed sh** from time to time, I've come to accept the weirdness. Even embrace it in cases like "Digital Bath" and "Passenger"....
I'm curious as to how the new album is shaping up 'cus most of the B-side record was sh** when compared to all the good rare songs they left off....
....KSE and Deftones are fantastic bands.....My chem and senses fail are terrible and the Used are the Blink 182 of melodic hardcore/screamo....
I at least get the feeling that the Used make honest music but it's still too simple, too radio friendly and too emo thus not worth my time.

I've never heard Depeche Mode and Duran Duran referred to as proto-emo before! I think gay synth pop would cover it for the most part, although Depeche Mode definitely got better with age. Depeche Mode are one of those bands whose songs tend to sound much better when performed by other bands, ie In Flames - Everything Counts, Rammstein - Stripped.
The Deftones are not reason enough to bother with this sh**ty tour. Not that I could go even if I wanted to, considering that great, vast ocean between myself and the venues in question.

Killswitch (I f***ing hate their name) are a little light on the song dynamic thing, the song structures are simple............Even if the drums are fantastic, the riffs are tricky and the vocals come in 10 sizes and 20 varieties (which is awesome, Killswitch have had 2 fantastic singers) They just conform to the pop-format a bit more than I'd like....Thats fine for like half an album but Killswitch could really knock people flat with songs more in the style of Tool, Opeth or even Shadows Fall....It's just a little to easy to figure out.....Like Sevendust, a good band for what it is but they could be so much better (IMHO) and the potential and skill are already there.

Deftones are worth goin to this tour in my opinion, people who are just slandering the tour for no apparent reason i have no time for you! but people have some general honest comments to make i take on board... i.e that most of the tour is emo (emo=bollocks) but hey Killswitch are pretty fookin kickass even if i prefered they're old singer, and thrice aren't too bad either, atreyu i'll put up with... so thats 3/4 bands i'd go and see... so before you take your emo aimed agression out on deftones, think! think this... emo is sh** good job deftones aren't emo their good! and emo people out there no harm intended by me givin you a demining social group name... sorry

As a fan of pretty much any music, except country and pop, I must say ToC 2006 is going to be an awesome tour. Deftones are my favorite band of all time, and Funeral for a Friend and Atreyu are current favorites of mine. And while Funeral for a Friend may be considered 'too emo' by many of your standards, they have some pretty sweet Iron Maiden-style and some good breakdowns in some of their songs and should at least be given a chance. It's pissing me off that all the metal boards are whining about the Deftones having to tour with a bunch of 'emo' bands and all the punk/emo boards are whining about how the Deftones don't belong on the tour. Why doesn't everyone just shut up? If you don't agree with the lineup, don't go. Spare the people like me who are going just to have a good time.
