Besides the highly anticipated return of Slayer this year, renowned thrash metal guitarist Kerry King has been unveiling his own solo venture. Below, you can immerse yourself in the song "Residue" from his inaugural album, "From Hell I Rise." This release is scheduled for May 17th under Reigning Phoenix Music.

Jim Louvau and Tony Aguilera (known for their work with Jerry Cantrell and Greg Puciato) co-helmed the dynamic visuals accompanying this track.

King offered his thoughts:

“I come from a big fire pedigree, and my music works with fire. I’ve always written horror-type music, so it made sense to incorporate fire into the first video where you get to see the entire band, which I think is just awesome. I think fire goes hand-in-hand with the devil, and I’m no stranger to talking about the devil.”

Comments Louvau:

“A fiery, bitchin’, heavy fucking metal performance introducing the world to Kerry King‘s new project and band members. A no bullshit, no prisoners showcase of the band members, performing while engulfed in flames and surrounded by burning pentagrams.

I knew this would be the first time that the world was going to see the band performing together, so I wanted to create a fast-moving visual assault. Pyrotechnics and Kerry King clearly go hand in hand and seem to fit like a glove, so Tony and I wanted to create something that felt familiar but also something new and exciting. I also knew I could get away with certain visuals like a burning pentagram.”

Drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer, among others), vocalist Mark Osegueda (of Death Angel fame), guitarist Phil Demmel (from Vio-lence and formerly of Machine Head), and bassist Kyle Sanders (ex-Hellyeah) complete the lineup for the band.

The following series of performances has been scheduled to promote the record, with the Chicago show marking the band's inaugural live performance:

Sounds like Slayer with Mark Osegueda trying to sound like Tom Araya.
