Machine Head‘s “Catharsis” First Week's Sales Down By Half Of Its Predecessor “Bloodstone & Diamonds”

Machine Head‘s polarizing new release “Catharsis” has opened at #65 on the Billboard 200. The album shifted roughly 9.000 units in the United States during its first week of release, down from the 18.200 sold units its predecessor “Bloodstone & Diamonds” (2014 ) did during its first week. Notably as Machine Head themselves claim below, the effort has performed admirably internationally:
Meanwhile Hatebreed, etc. singer Jamey Jasta has put out the below shirt satirizing Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn and rap outfit Run-DMC. The t-shirt was inspired by a joke on Jamey Jasta‘s ‘The Jasta Show‘ and of course hints at Flynn once again back to rhyming on the latest Machine Head effort “Catharsis“.

Nah, Davidian is by far greater (as well as TTAOE and The Blackening) than any Vio-Lence album. Of course that's just one man's opinion. I like Vio-Lence, and i'd like to see a reunion as well, but Davidian is great start to finish. I've worn out 2 CD's since it's release.

The More Things Change and TTAOE are personal favorites. When someone says Machine Head I think of those two albums reflexively. I was an early and vocal naysayer of the albums that came between those two.
The Blackening is basically a modern classic. Generally speaking the Locust and Bloodstone were solid albums too. I still spin all three.
I'll work myself up to listening to Catharsis eventually... but I am not looking forward to it.
