Wicked Wisdom Fills Final Second Stage Slot For Ozzfest 2005

In one of the most unusual summer-tour pairings in recent memory, the Ozzfest Web site announced Monday night that there will be one final act added to this year's second-stage lineup: actress Jada Pinkett Smith's rock group, WICKED WISDOM.

The addition of the Christian-leaning rock-and-soul hybrid to a summer touring package that boasts ferocious metal merchants like BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, SHADOWS FALL, MUDVAYNE, IN FLAMES and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is unexpected, to say the least.

WICKED WISDOM is an EVANESCENSE-esque act that Pinkett Smith, the band's frontperson and the wife of actor/rapper Will Smith, has said is influenced by ANI DIFRANCO, PRINCE, TORI AMOS and SEVENDUST. The group also includes a guy named Pocket on guitar, another fellow named Rio on bass, keyboardist Cameron Graves and drummer Satnam Ramgotra. This summer's Ozzfest stint will mark WICKED WISDOM's first North American tour: The group primarily performs club gigs in and around Los Angeles, although it has opened for PAPA ROACH and was the support act for BRITNEY SPEARS' 2004 European tour.

OZZFEST does suck and is a huge money machine .... its one of the only ways they get to rape metal fans every year .... tickets are overpriced and the venue sux (here in phoenix the stage is like 100 yards away from the stage, behind all the seating) food and drinks are insanely priced, worse than any baseball or basketball game i have ever been to ....

the SOTU tour is playing in a grass amphitheatre that i can go mosh in about 2 feet from the stage! gotta love that!

This is why OFF-FEST shows are so great, it's usually a nonconformed tour that the venue books and cheap, and you only get five or six bands for a show, most from the second stage and one or two from the mainstage.

Trouble is, their a second stage band, who's to say they won't be on an Off-fest date or two?

It says in the other article on this site, Jada Upsets Ozzfest fans, that Sharon's a fan of the band. If she's a fan of the band, I'm sure she could have gotten them onto some other tour. Correct me if I'm wrong, but an R&B/rock band has never been on Ozzfest. Maybe this really is the last year of Ozzfest if Sharon is making decision like putting a band such as Wicked Wisdom on the tour.
