Wreche Releasing Self-Titeld Album

Fragile Branch Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a self-titled by black metal duo Wreche on May 26th, 2017. Check out the track listing and artwork below. The following press release was also issued about Wreche:

"The old piano wire creaks and whines as the hammer turns, wrenching the pin from the rotted maple. Steel clinks and piles upon the concrete while the wires twist and fall, knotting like weeds. As the spirit is pruned, it protests gently, plying the old songs—a final ghostly stride through the mind’s quiet gramophone.

"Wreche expands the palette and language of the piano to black metal. As the piano is physically 'pruned' in the first movement, so is its context. Large swaths of color collide through heavy handed massive chord stylings, marrying the drama of modern classical with the savage thrash of metal percussion and despondent screams of traditional black metal.

"Lyrical themes build upon this tension, contrasting darkness and light, intimacy and isolation, desert and city, all the while, musically, a war, storm, and stillness of shifting emotion rages. By transforming and revising the guitars of black metal, replacing them with shards of crystalline harshness and frenzied scherzos, Wreche invites space for new interpretations of genre, forging a path out of the proverbial forest—be it Norwegian, Olympian, or Appalachian—and into something more hopeless and sinister."
