Former Trouble, Zoetrope Drummer Passes Away
Barry Stern, who drummed for doom-metal legends Trouble and '80s thrashers Zoetrope, died April 1 in his hometown of Chicago shortly after undergoing hip-replacement surgery. A chapel service was held Tuesday. Stern sang and played drums on Zoetrope's 1985 debut, "Amnesty," and 1987's "A Life of Crime." He left to join Trouble for that band's 1990 self-titled record and also performed on 1992's "Manic Frustration."

To f***yourgodsandidols:
I found "Amnesty" at theendrecords.com Zoetrope's "Hardcore Street Metal" is a gem that, unfortunately (fortunately?), slipped through the cracks of the mainstream metal conscience. Check out "Amnesty" (the song) for one of the most pulsating and energizing riffs in metal history.

Woah man! This just tripped me out! Was on Rhapsody just checking out some old bands I used to listen to. I lived two aprtment buildings down from Barry. They used to play loud and hard. As a kid I loved it, cause it p***ed off my Mom. Anyway Barry went to Senn High School in Rogers Park (north side of Chicago). I would be about a block behind him going to school and see his hair bounce to his gait. Saw Zoetrope at Warren Park in the very early '80's. Then I found one of their albums (Amnesty) in London when I was in the Air Force. My condolences goes out to his family (my sister and I knew Barry's sister). I see that not everyone liked his music. That's ok because he wouldn't give a sh**! He knew what he was saying. Rock on Barry!
