Launch Radio Networks is reporting that VELVET REVOLVER has firmed up plans to be part of this year's Ozzfest tour. Drummer Matt Sorum said the group will play 10 Ozzfest dates, commencing on August 16 in West Valley City, Utah. The last seven dates will be in lieu of IRON MAIDEN, which drops off the bill on August 20. Sorum said his band is looking forward to the tour. "They've asked us to be the second on the slot, so I mean, we're going on right before [BLACK] SABBATH," he said. "That's gonna be pretty cool. And then there's a lot of really heavy bands on the bill. They're counting on us to bring out a lot of fans. I mean, I think that they think it's gonna be cool to have us on the bill, and that's why they invited us."

Ozzfest wraps up on September 4 in West Palm Beach, Florida. VELVET REVOLVER recently started a North American arena tour that lasts until May 25. The group will head to Europe in June and early July.

VELVET REVOLVER resumes its current tour on April 12 in Chula Vista, California.

This ozzfest is shaping up to be a big letdown. I don't mind velvet revolver, but not on ozzfest and why the f*** did they get Maiden if they couldn't do the whole tour. Zombie is the only reason I want to go but I don't think I will.

Maiden and Sabbath are gods, i cannot wait. I'll beat the dead horse and say that velvet revolver doesn't belong especially with their sh** music and horrible lyrics, "come on motherf***er and bring home the cow" (nice chorus on the first album yeah?), once they can come up with somewhat intelligent lyrics, then I might consider them rock N' roll, but never metal. They are too far out of the league in more ways than one

well, all I can say is that this is better than the whole fest. yeah, they don't belong but we can't change it. so, be optimistic and think, well, at least it's only ten dates.

Okay theres some good musicians in this band, BUT WTF!!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!?.....My drunk dad with a harmonica is more metal than Velvet Revolver.......And the sad thing is they will probably still get a pretty warm response because it's OZZFEST and just as many people go who are into radio drek as real metal and everything in between.......*screams in computer chair*

Ozzfest hasnt yet fallen prey to slumping ticket sales for the most part and this is only going to drive away their core audience and possibly bring in a bunch of 30 something former hair metal lovers and post-grunge fan boys...WEEEEE

ITS THE RETURN OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DOT-COM BOOM!!!!!

here is the problem... they suck. im not close minded, i listen to almost all genres of metal (power, black, death, epic), but VR are not metal. Ozzfest has digressed severely, and if it wasn't for mastodon, trivium, and iron maiden, it would not even be worth going to. most of the other bands are overrated, or suck something awful.

Ok I admit it I like VR.Just like I liked all the band's that the various member's came from(GnR,STP,THE CULT,SUICIDAL TENDENCIES etc.)but they are by no mean's OZZFEST material.Yeah sure they may attract a new crowd that may not show up otherwise and even bring in more of my second favorite thing on the planet (WOMEN !).I still feel they should have gotten somebody else to fill that slot.So in closing until OZZFEST ceases to become the comercial entity it is becoming.Sharon if your reading this and your probably not.BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to voodoo_child, just because someone is a talented musician doesnt mean they should be on ozzfest. for example, elton john is a talented piano player, but i dont want him anywhere near ozzfest
