Corelia Comments On Crowd Funded Album Delay

Following an IndieGogo crowd funding campaign last year that raised 223% of its projected goal, Corelia has yet to actually deliver the album that was fan funded. Now the group has issued this statement about the delay:

"This is an update to let all of you know that we're still at it, that we're still a band, and that we will 100% release a completely unforgettable debut album. Every person who contributed to our crowdfunding campaign will receive the t-shirts, physical CDs, and etc that they opted in for. In all likelihood, everyone who contributed to the campaign will adore the record, and many will probably cherish it amongst their favorite albums.

"Based off the plethora of heartfelt messages we've received from fans throughout the years regarding how 'Nostalgia' had a life-changing effect on them, we believe in full confidence that our upcoming double LP will leave an even greater impact. The record contains 95+ minutes of the very best material we've conceived over the years, zero filler content, and an attention to detail where every note, both in the realm of writing and of production, is meticulously thought out and refined with care.

"We've gone completely above and beyond with our fans' contributions to pursue the highest quality possible for the release - not just with the record itself, but with the merchandise line, various forms of media supplemental to the music, and a massive hype/release campaign surrounding art and the aesthetic related to the album's themes. In addition, as we've always maintained, none of us have profited a dime off Corelia nor the crowdfunding campaign. When all is said and done, the lengths we've gone to fulfill our artistic vision and to make the record and it's release something magical will stand out in all apparency.

"To continue on, we're not pushing a commodity here. Our intentions have always been to create a piece of art as unbridled from the restraints of the market as possible. We understand that the trends in the music industry tend towards speed, efficiency, and getting things done for the sake of getting them done, so it makes sense to us that a lot of people are disappointed that the album is not out. We didn't anticipate, for a variety of reasons, the workload we ended up having, nor did we predict that we would become as obsessed with making all things related to the release as polished as they are.

"On top of a strategic attempt to take our time and to not rush something we've poured our souls into for years, there have been many setbacks. Several aspects of the record have been completely re-recorded multiple times due to our determination to make things as great as they can be, and there have been several big occurrences that have held us back which we truly wish we could discuss, but refuse to due to our decision to take the high road. All the trials and tribulations we've endured throughout this process have been a massive learning experience, and have essentially forced us to develop skills and know-how that will undoubtedly ensure a healthy future for Corelia.

"Furthermore, we'd like to state that the album's title - which has been in place since before we ran the crowdfunding campaign - is a metaphor directly pertaining to our withdrawal from social media. It's the same alienation we carried out while deep in the writing process (pre-crowdfunding campaign), and it's the same alienation we've undergone during the record's production process. Without it, the album wouldn't be what it is. We simply find the social institutions of Facebook, Instagram, and etc to be mentally draining, and to be the antithesis of creative inspiration.

"Yeah, maybe we're pushing it a bit at this point, but if we weren't, there wouldn't be much of a statement being made. We're fully aware of and acknowledge people's' frustrations with this; believe us on that. We are reminded of these feelings day in and day out as we work and live in the album's universe. The criticism and negative comments are constantly looming over our heads, and we fully reason with them, but everything we've expressed here is straight from the heart. In addition to that, we'd like to state that the first song we'll be releasing from the record, which very well may be our strongest song, is essentially written about the situation we've arrived at now. It's for us, it's for the people who have always believed in us in all our individuality and unorthodoxy, and it's for those who very blatantly wish to see us fail.

"At the end of the day, the album is just taking longer than expected, and we're sorry for the lack of content and updates. But, we do have a ton of special things prepared for the record's release campaign. Thanks for your continued patience."
