By now you've probably heard the news of Metallica's upcoming new album "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" coming in November.

Everybody and their dog has had an opinion on the first track released, but there's been less talk of the distinctive cover art. Turns out Kirk Windstein from Crowbar has some thoughts, sharing the image bellow and issuing this post via Facebook:

"In all fairness, after touring with the mighty Metallica, while in Down... I know the fellas know who Crowbaris... however, I seriously doubt that any member of Metallica stole this idea from us. Maybe the artist? Anyway you slice it...it's a cool cover idea!!! Now James and Lars, go listen to 'Odd Fellows Rest!' Lol."

When I first saw this new cover, I thought it reminded me of Metallica's own hammer of justice from nearly 30 years ago.
