"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Draconian Parts With Bassist Fredrik Johansson

Draconian just issued this announcement online about parting ways with the band's decade-long bassist:

"We have some sad news and some good news from the Draconian camp. First of all, we regretfully need to say farewell to Fredrik Johansson, our longtime friend, a positive light and fellow musician in the Horde since 'The Burning Halo' era... Fredrik has decided to leave the band in order to spend more time with his family and he doesn't want to frustrate the band’s intention to achieve its goals playing more shows, tours and to move forward.

"With a very sad heart we must say goodbye and we shall truly miss you, Fredrik. You bridged our gaps in many ways, and in us you'll always find your faithful friends. Always consider yourself a part of Draconian and if you need us we’ll be there for you. All the delightful memories we share is forever! Thank you for everything, Fredrik.

"On a happier note we’d like to congratulate our drummer Jerry Torstensson and partner Janaina to their new born baby girl. Jerry will therefore sit out on upcoming shows in Greece and the European tour to be with his family. The drums on the upcoming events will be handled by no other than Tarald Lie from Tristania. The bass will be mastered by Daniel Änghede (Crippled Black Phoenix, Hearts of Black Science, ISON). See you soon."

Fredrik comments: “Dear friends. I've been a part of Draconian for about a decade and during that time it's been a dream for all of us to play more. Heike joining the band and the release of 'Sovran' has led to offers for several gigs and also a tour. Sadly I would've had a hard time to join in on this because I started to find it hard to combine family life and a full time job with touring and playing gigs.

"A couple of years ago I would've bent over backwards to make things work out but my priorities have changed so I've decided to leave Draconian. During my years in the band we've been to places I never even dreamt of going and met many great persons that I'm glad to call my friends. I wish the best for my brothers and sister in Draconian and believe the bands future will be just awesome. Love!"
