Korn Commence Work On New Album With TLC Producer

KORN have commenced work on their new studio album with producer Dallas Austin, who has previously worked with TLC, MADONNA and MICHAEL JACKSON, among others. "The writing is going really good, we have wrote [sic] at least five songs already," KORN frontman Jonathan Davis said in a Jan. 28 online posting. "It's really tight, heavy, headbangin' shit.
"We are now working with Dallas Austin, he is one bad-ass producer - one of the best we have ever worked with. We are doin' some crazy, heavy, trippy shit with him.
"This album is gonna be slammin'.
KORN's last release, "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" (Immortal/Epic), featuring highlights from the first 10 years of the band's recording career, was certified gold in December by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of 500,000 copies.
In addition to KORN's biggest songs, "Greatest Hits" also includes two brand-new covers - a remake of CAMEO's "Word Up" and a medley of PINK FLOYD's "Another Brick In The Wall, Parts 1, 2, & 3".
KORN are also planning on releasing a live DVD featuring footage mainly from last summer's Projekt Revolution Tour.

In their never ending quest to combine just the right mix of two different styles they are taking what's probably the biggest gamble possible . Working with TLC's former producer . If nothing else it's the ballsiest move I've heard of in a long time . If they do it just right this could turn into the biggest CD of their career , but everybody from the producer to the studio engineer's to the band it's self will have to truly be in their zone nothin less than A+-GAME . Let's see if they pull it off . I'm crossing my fingers .

Im with Blackdog on this one...Korn are very far from the best band ever in my opinion, and they've churned out some weak songs in the past...and none of their records are as strong as the first 1....still their guitar sound, while simple, does create a good atmosphere, the drummer is skilled and the bassist, despite being a total ass, is also very capable...im a betting man so i'll say korn have a 50/50 shot at making a decent record...my concern is the lyrics.....y'all wanna single..., while sorta funny, could have been a million times more clever and thought out....more power to korn for being inovators but can they pull out of this spiral of progressively less interesting albums streak? we'll see..........

Can we all atleast agree to the fact that this is definitley going to be a grand experiment.Dallas Austin is a legendary producer with insane ability but this is a 1st time thing not only for him but Metal in general . This is the vary 1st time I've ever heard the suggestion of a r&b/hip hop producer working with a Metal band the size of KoRn , much less new metal as their referd to . One way or the other this could be the start of a new era in Rock /Metal in general , something totaly new , don't say I didn't warn you . In the mean time let's sit back and see what happen's right now it's too early to tell .

the guitar playing is simple..so is hatebreeds and a bunch of other "GOOD" bands, i play bass myself but i can play alot of korn songs on guitar as well as songs by bands you would defend to the grave, just like kornology is....
rap does suck, though korn dont do that so much anymore...bassist made a rap album, he IS a good bassist though...you may not like them because of their simplicity but your acting like someones out to get you...calm down,

Korn is doing 2 albums you know, They are working on their kovers album, and there new one. And Drew, maybe you should watch Some of korns dvd's if you think head and munky suck and guitar, they do 20 minute guitar solos, idd like to see you try to do half of it. Brian has been playing guitar his whole life, with his dad and fieldy's dad. Just because they dont put guitar solos on their records doesnt mean he cant, i suggest watching it for yourself. ; ) enjoy both the albums.

Lets face it, nobody can judge korn or thier music, realistically. Unless SOMEBODY has a direct contact with them and has talked to them on a daily basis you really can't say sh**. Close mindedness and judging are the very perspectives that lead to much more detremental effects and reprahcusions. Korn is not metal. It is nothing more that alternative rock, also called Nu-metal. Nu-metal is a wrongly labeled genre to classify hard alternative rock. The attributes to this class of rock usually includes over-use of low power chords, low-tuned guitars, simplistic guitar riffs, angtsy lyrics, the obvious lack of solos (some nu-metal bands are trying to play them, failing horribly in comparison to real metal) and follows an alternative rock song structure. Sadly (for you) Korn fits all of these points with ease. Nu-metal is in no way REAL metal.
So then what is true metal? It's hard to come by if you don't know what it is. Real metal is more complex than alternative rock in every way imaginable. Guitarwork is more challenging to play, being much more variated and melodic. The frontman's singing is very often MUCH more ranged in singing pitch. The last, and often most important reason, is the song structure. Metal follows it's own. unlike nu-metal.
Bands that are not metal: Slipknot, Korn, Mudvayne, Disturbed, and so on and so on....
Just because a band is loud, play power chords, and screams alot, are they metal? No.
Are those old Hair Metal bands like Guns 'n Roses, KISS, and Poison metal? No. In no way did those relate to metal. Nothing could be farther from it. That is called Glam Rock.
