The Paramedic Parts With Vocalist Mike Luciano
The Paramedic - which was recently accused of racism and homophobia by a number of music news outlets - has issued the following announcement about splitting with front man Mike Luciano:
"As many of you may know, we did not make it to the last few dates of the Music Over Matter Tour, and we haven't yet issued an explanation as to why... The Paramedic and vocalist Mike Luciano have mutually decided to part ways.
"Over the past few years, there have been creative differences, and differences in opinion between Mike and the rest of The Paramedic. There was always a strong friendship that came first, so these things were easy for us to overcome, for the most part.
"As of late, there has been a lot of attention on Mike for some of his opinions and views that he has shared with the world. Although this wasn't a problem for Mike, the rest of us in The Paramedic did have an issue with these things, as we do not share those views and opinions with him.
"Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and freedom of speech is something that we all share. So, Mike is free to say whatever he wants, whenever he wants. The problem is that when you are in a band with 5 other people, whatever you say, and whatever people think about you kind of gets spilled over onto everyone else, regardless of their own views and opinions.
"Mike is still a good friend of all of ours, and that will never change. It's just not fair for all of us to take the heat for the things he has said and the reputation he has built for himself. We are a pretty fucked up, pissed off band, and for the most part we really don't give a shit about anything. But... There are some lines that even we cannot cross as a band. We do however stick by our friend and encourage him to say or do whatever he wants. That is his right, and we'll never say anything bad about that. It's just not for us.
"With all this being said, The Paramedic will never die. As a matter of fact, we're not slowing down at all. Very soon, you guys are going to have the best music that the band has ever released. We are more proud of our new material than anything we have ever done before, musically AND vocally.
"We appreciate your undying support, and hope that you will continue to stick by us through this decision. We promise we will not let you down."
