Up and coming progressive metal band Obsolete is happy to announce the release of new EP "Riven" on April 21st, 2015. The following press release was issued about the group:

"Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, dark progressive metal band Obsolete began as a solo project for singer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Rivera. He started making music as a youth when he first learned to play the bass guitar. Picking up drums and then guitar over the years, he has since played in several local metal bands.

"In 2009, Dan picked up his acoustic guitar and began to write simpler, more personal songs. These songs grew, electric guitars and other layers were added, and his solo project was born, which would eventually become Obsolete. With the help of his brother Matt Rivera and dear friend Lloyd Martin (of Mairin), Dan recorded Ockham's Razor in February 2012 with engineers Richard Schneider and Joey Hendrickson.

"Jason Hufford (an old friend and drummer for The Conquering) and Steven George then joined in on drums and bass/backing vocals respectively, thus completing the live lineup. Daniel Stucky was then added for live percussion, bringing great energy and depth to Obsolete's live sound. The four-song EP 'Riven' is coming in Spring 2015, and the band is looking to bring its music to other cities and into many new ears."
