Update: Geezer has now issued a brief thank you message to fans for their support after this altercation, which can be found over here.
According to a press release from the Inyo County sheriff's department, Black Sabbath's 65 year old bassist and song writer Geezer (Terence Michael) Butler was arrested after being involved in a bar room brawl.
The sheriff department's press release reads:
Shortly after midnight on January 27th Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call regarding a verbal and physical altercation that took place at the Corkscrew Saloon located at the Furnace Creek Ranch property in Death Valley National Park.
After the Inyo County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on scene and interviewed witnesses it was determined that there had been an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation - resulting in an individual being struck, and a broken window.
Terence Michael Butler a 65-year old man from Beverly Hills, CA was arrested for misdemeanor assault, public intoxication and vandalism. Butler was booked into the Inyo County Jail and released after detox and citation.
At this point there has been no statement from either the Black Sabbath camp or Geezer Butler about the incident. So come on Metalunderground readers, let's get on with the Black Sabbath lyric puns in the comments...

"Back in the day", made it to the Milwaukee concert of their first tour with Ronnie James. Some dumb a$$ kid threw a beer bottle onto the stage during the FIRST song. It hit Geezer's head, and the concert ended right there. My buddy and I were majorly p.o.'ed, as we'd been waiting for a couple of years to see them. It was during a very cold day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so my buddy and I both had leather (bombardier style) jackets on, and we were pretty much the oldest people in the crowd. The kids in the hallways would always scream "COPS"! Did we have fun with that, or what??
