Napalm Records Signs Kamelot
Symphonic metal act Kamelot has signed on with Napalm Records. The band entered the studio in mid-2014 to begin recording the follow-up to the highly acclaimed chart topping album "Silverthorn" (see review here).
The new album will make Kamelot history, as it will be released worldwide (excluding Asia) on Napalm Records/Universal and Napalm Records/ADA-Warner, as an exclusive licensing deal through the band's Kameot Music LLC this April/May 2015.
In support of this release, Kamelot will hit the road starting in March for select UK shows, followed by a massive North America Tour this Spring, with special guests Dragonforce (dates and venues can be found at this location). Select Summer Festivals will follow and the band returns to Europe in September/October for their biggest headliner tour to date.
"We are extremely excited about having a growing and hungry independent label like Napalm with the power of major distribution that we will get with Universal and ADA Warner" stated Kamelot founder and guitarist Thomas Youngblood.
Thomas Caser, Vice President of Napalm Records added: "Being a fan since the band's 'Epica' release it has always been a dream for me to work with Kamelot! Finally this dream has come true and we at Napalm Records are delighted and honoured to announce this signing. I foresee a bright future and we will spare no effort to bring the band to where they deserve to be - the top! Watch out for the band's monumental new album this spring and witness Kamelot & Napalm Records conquering the world in 2015!"
Kamelot has held its own, very special position in the world of rock and heavy music: the band's elaborate melodic metal has always opened itself in a remarkably clever way to like-minded styles, integrating progressive elements as well as cross-references to doom/gothic metal and classical music, which have allowed the songs to define their own genre.
Two of Kamelot's most successful releases in particular, namely the albums "Karma" (2001) and "The Black Halo" (2005), are prime examples of the group's multi-layered approach, intensity and outstanding musicality. Last effort "Silverthorn" saw the band raise this demanding standard even higher, because the album stands the test of time as a true masterpiece of grand gestures, gritty melodies and haunting atmospheres, showcasing Kamelot at its finest.
