The debut solo album from Doug Harrison, vocalist/guitarist for Canada's Fen, will be released on October 24th under the name Slug Comparison.
The self-titled album will be released in a digital-only format, and the following press release was issued about the project:
"Known for blending darkness and light, acoustic and electric, Harrison deepens his exploration of these elements with nine new songs that feel like a ‘Part II’ to Fen’s acclaimed album 'Trails Out Of Gloom.'
"The recordings came together over a two year period. They feature drummer Randall Stoll (Fen - Congenital Fixation), and bassist Mike Young (The Devin Townsend Band). Longtime studio collaborator, Mike Southworth produced the recordings.
"While similar to Trails Out Of Gloom, Slug Comparison reveals Harrison’s growth as a vocalist and songwriter, experimenting with techno-industrial sounds in 'Bringer of Doom,' using a vocal character in 'Evil Walks,' and surpassing himself compositionally with the multi-layered, multi-movement, anti-war epic, 'Long Live the Night,' which includes an extended slide guitar solo, a choir, and battlefield soundscapes."
