Slash Signs with Roadrunner Records Europe
Roadrunner Records Europe has announced the signing of legendary guitarist Slash for the forthcoming European release of his debut solo album, “Slash,” in Spring 2010.
Slash is one of the most iconic musicians of all time. His song writing, playing and performing through Guns N Roses, Slash’s Snakepit, Velvet Revolver and a host of collaborations and guest appearances has inspired and entertained millions worldwide. Since exploding onto the music scene in 1987 with Guns N’ Roses “Appetite For Destruction,” still the fastest selling debut album of all time, Slash has become one of the best loved and critically acclaimed guitarists of his generation. Time magazine, as recently as August 2009, named Slash as #2 on the list of 10 Best Electric Guitar Players of All Time.
Slash’s debut solo album will see him collaborating with some of the world’s most vital contemporary artists – from the rock world and beyond. The album is set to become an essential release.

The Rockstar Ramblings: The VR Search Continues
Last week Corey Taylor (Slipknot) announced that he tried out for the available lead singer spot for Velvet Revolver. Apparently he has not been offered the job, but this definitely gives us an idea of how the band’s search is going and that is to say not well.
Rumors (most found to be factual) have placed country singers, Sabastian Bach, and Lenny Kravitz at VR auditions this past year. Given Duff McKagan and Slash’s solo projects it’s a mystery to me why they continue to press the need for a lead singer so urgently; however, this continues to be a priority despite no “perfect” fit found up to this point. How can we help? Let’s break down the top ten leading (available) candidates and why they would/would not be a good fit for the ex gunners… More...
Metalocalypse Guest Stars Revealed For Season 3
When answering questions from fans and users of MetalSucks.net recently, Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small has revealed that the next season of Metalocalypse will include special guest voice work from Mastodon, Slash, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. An excerpt from the interview is as follows:
Q: Can we expect to see more voice work from the members of the metal community in the new season, perhaps your tourmates in Mastodon?
A: "That’s funny that you mentioned that, [because] we just recorded Mastodon in the upcoming episode and they were… we were blown away. We get a lot of people and we’re always surprised that they have this kind of other talent or can do voiceover stuff. Mastodon surprised us more than anybody else — they were really funny. Just hanging out with those guys on this tour has been really fun. They have a very good sense of humor. A lot of people in rock and roll, metal and all that stuff spend all their time on the bus just watching comedy and Monty Python and stuff like that. We have Mastodon coming. We have members of In Flames coming this season. I have some of my guitar heroes playing parts on this season, doing voiceovers, like Satriani, Vai, and Slash. I’m a guitar nerd so I had to reach out to those guys to see if I can get them on the show. They were great too."

Stone Temple Pilots Singer Suffers Seizure
According to Rollingstone.com, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland experienced a mild seizure on a commercial flight from Los Angeles to Miami that resulted in the plane having to make an emergency landing at Dallas Fort Worth Airport.
A rep traveling with Weiland tells Rolling Stone exclusively that the airplane staff called for medical assistance over the loud speaker and had to administer oxygen to Weiland. Shortly after, Weiland had come to and was “in good spirits” as was taken off the plane for the hospital.
Weiland was traveling with his Scott Weiland Band to Miami for a performance and the launch of his clothing line Weiland for English Laundry at the club Mansion. The rep said the singer has a history of seizures, but is now “doing great” and expects to leave for Miami tomorrow and appear at the club as scheduled.
Judgement Day Records For Slash's Solo Album
Two of the members of violin and cello metal trio Judgement Day recently had the honors of recording with Slash for his solo record. Here's an excerpt of the band recounting the story:
"A couple of weeks ago Lewis and I went down to LA for a recording gig with Eric Valentine, a producer who we work with often. Sessions for Eric are always great, so we didn’t even ask who the artist would be this time. When I got to the studio Lewis was already set up in the live room and Eric was hard at work getting tones. He started playing the song that we were working on. It was a pretty pop ballad and the singer kind of sounded like of Maroon 5. Was this a Maroon 5 session? As the song smoothly progressed, my eyes began to scan of the room for clues. I noticed a handful of unusual black guitar picks strewn across the desk and couch. I leaned over to pick one up. Just then, the song hit the bridge and the tone totally changed. A ripping, monster guitar entered, shredding like a demon out of hell. The logo inscribed on the guitar pick was of crossed bones and a skull wearing a top hat. This could mean only one thing…"

Ex-Guns N Roses Members Granted Restraining Order
Steven Adler, the former drummer of rock legends Guns N Roses has been granted a restraining order against a woman from Oregon, and so has his former bandmate Slash, it was revealed today.
Adler believes a woman named Lisa Jill Martin-Cahn hired at least three private investigators since '08 to hunt him down ... "under the ruse" they were long lost lovers who met in rehab back in the early 90's. Adler's documents, filed in L.A. County, say cops who visited Cahn at her Oregon home last month found "unopened boxes of house ware items which Cahn stated were wedding presents for her and Adler's upcoming marriage."
Adler's former GNR bandmate Slash claims Cahn has contacted him and his family members - including his mother-in-law - by phone and letter in desperate attempts to get in touch with Adler.
The restraining order was granted yesterday morning and Cahn now must stay at least 500 feet away from the two musicians at all times.

The Rockstar Ramblings: American Idol Edition

Slash Begins Recording Debut Solo Album
Velvet Revolver/former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash entered the studio last week to record his debut solo album. A message from the guitarist reads as follows: "Hey, how is everybody?
"I start recording my solo CD today (on March 25th), Josh Freese on drums and Chris Chaney on bass, with Eric Valentine producing. I know you're saying 'didn't Josh play with Axl's Guns N' Roses?!' He did in the 90's for a while but left after a couple years, so I don't know if it counts much. Besides, that doesn't undermine that he is an amazing drummer.
"I've been reading your messages and there is a handful of questions that a lot of you have in common. One question that a lot of you want to know is, who is singing on this record, but unfortunately, I can't divulge that info yet, but you'll know soon enough. I will say however, that they are fantastically talented songwriters who its been an honor to work and write with, to say the least. More...
Shooter Jennings Offered Velvet Revolver Job
Country rock star Shooter Jennings has revealed in a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine that he was offered the job as vocalist for Velvet Revolver and not just once. Speaking on the offer he said:
"They’ve asked me twice, dude. I've done a couple of shows with those guys, and they asked me a couple of years ago and they asked me again last year to be the singer. And it pained my heart not to say yes, because those guys are the best players in the world. They’re literally one of the best bands I’ve ever heard and to be able to sing with them has been amazing. But I had a talk with them about it, and I would absolutely still, to this day, get in a room and jam with them, but first of all, I knew I was gonna be doing another record and that what I wanted to do was really special to me, and I didn’t feel I could stifle that."
