Maryland Deathfest To Go On At Sonar As Planned

The Maryland Deathfest organizers report that "Sonar will be re-opening before MDF, and technically they already have."

The organizers futher commented: "These last couple of days have been incredibly confusing and stressful, but we are currently back to the regularly scheduled program. And don't worry, beyond plan B is a plan C, because that's how we roll. See you in a couple of weeks."

As such, the set times that were previously announced should now hold.

Masakari Signs To Southern Lord Records

The brutal, metallic, crust punk attack of MASAKARI's debut album will be released on June 8th, 2010 via Southern Lord Recordings.

The label describes the sound on their new album: "MASAKARI unleash a devastating blend of d-beat crust and anxious hardcore descendant to His Hero Is Gone and From Ashes Rise, as well as more punk/crust founders G.I.S.M. and Discharge, and adopt these classic styles to their own point-blank, by-the-throat approach. Crushing, discordant riffing smashes its way through the barrage of ravenous drum battery, broken, eerie guitar leads entangled in the song structures, and all fueled by guttural, searing vocals that power the angry, socio-politically inspired lyrics."

Following a 7" on Halo of Flies Records, the quartet has constructed their debut full-length "The Prophet Feeds," bearing 10 tracks showcasing the band's elevated songwriting, as well as their increasing hatred for governmental corruption, greed and atrocities against humanity. The album was engineered by Bill Korecky (Incantation, Keelhaul, Integrity) and recorded at Mars Studio in the band's home town of Cleveland.

You can download an MP3 of the track "Rapid Dominance" from "The Prophet Feeds" to get a taste of the new material.

Here's Masakari's "The Prophet Feeds" tracklisting:

1. XVI Rapid Dominance
2. X Pain Conceived as a Tool
3. XI Nausea
4. XII Abandoned
5. VIII Echoes
6. XIV The Voiceless
7. IX Tempt Providence
8. XIII Rise or Fall
9. XV Echelon
10. Outro

MASAKARI will be heading to Europe later this month for an extended tour, with more details to be announced shortly. In the meantime they'll be appearing at a few Midwest US shows to prepare for the onslaught. Here are the latest shows announced:

5/15/2010 Tower 2012 - Cleveland, OH *record release show
5/16/2010 Eagles Nest - Milwaukee, WI w/ Protestant, Enabler *tape release show
