Aborted Streaming Album's Title Track
Aborted's 9th full-length crusher, "Retrogore," will be hauled from the grave on April 22nd, 2016 and fans should expect nothing less than one of thee most relentless and fiercest albums from Belgium's favorite gore-mongers to date.

"Here it is ghouls and maniacs! The first, opening track and title track to our fine new little piece of auricular mayhem called 'Retrogore.' A profound little diddy that somewhat recalls the finesse and tactfulness of Monty Python's 'The meaning of life' or as we shall call it our own 'The meaning of Death(metal)'. You see, folks, there are blast beats, there are ridiculously fast kicks all over the place, really, really, reaallly dark melodies to make you churn and some shredding for those who like that thing called musicianship. Sunday Old School: Aborted
Having recently been treated to a death metal extravaganza in London from Kataklysm, Septicflesh and Aborted (read the review here,) it seemed as good a time as any to revisit the history and story of one of these bands. In the interest of fairness, this week, we’ll be taking a look at the band whose country we’ve only examined twice before when covering Channel Zero and Enthroned, (which was only last week for those who need reminding.) The band whose career has been drenched in blood and fuelled by gore. The death metal band from Belgium known, quite simple, as Aborted.
Aborted was founded in 1995 by vocalist Sven de Caluwé, in the north west municipality of Waregem, West Flanders, reportedly choosing their name so that their albums would be first in the CD racks. This ambition came closer to be fulfilled, after they released two demos in 1998 entitled, "The Splat Pack" and "The Necrotorous Chronicles," which gained the attention of Uxicon Records, who released their debut album, "The Purity of Perversion" in 1999. The record received a good response from fans of extreme music, as well as disgust from onlookers at the cover art, a photograph of a mutilated woman. More...

Kataklysm Lead A Death Metal War In London
Perhaps one of the most popular venues among metal fans and bands in Britain, is The Underworld in Camden, North London. It's practically a given that when a small or cult band tours the UK, this is where they will play, even if it's their only UK show. As a result, even the pub located above the venue, appropriately enough called The World's End, is a very metal place, complete with it's own merchandise and all kinds of rock and metal being played over the stereo, as well as fantastic staff. The place is worth visiting for this alone, but on this night, The Underworld was hosting a death metal extravaganza which simply could not be missed, as Kataklysm arrived with Septicflesh and Aborted to perform the penultimate show of a 44 date tour.
The evening got off to an extremely heavy start as Waregem's own, Aborted took to the stage. It says a lot about this tour that all three bands are headliners in their own rights, each with a rich history and a lengthy back catalogue and Aborted certainly have the presence to be deemed headliners. All three bands brought a different brand of death metal to the show and this evening's openers were representing the brutal side of music, and representing it well. Despite going on at 6:45, Aborted instantly got the crowd moving, with plenty of head banging and mosh pits (a dangerous thing in The Underworld given the pillars on the floor,) to go around. The band mixed old material with new, performing songs from their excellent new EP, "Termination Redux," which are also scheduled to appear on their forthcoming new album, "Retrogore." This is all held together by frontman Sven de Caluwé, who possesses the charisma and showmanship that it takes to be considered one of the best live vocalists in death metal. Aborted puts on the kind of death metal performance people want to see, intense, extreme and very fun. More...
Aborted Reveals Title, Artwork For New Album

"Retrogore" will mark Aborted's ninth studio album and will see a worldwide release in April of 2016 through Century Media Records. After delivering two seriously drenched and critically acclaimed albums in the form of "Global Flatline" (2012) and "The Necrotic Manifesto" (2014) (see review here), Aborted has returned to not only deliver another album jam-packed with ferociously ripping brutal death metal but also surpass all expectations with what could be considered the most mature and diverse album to date.
