Aborted Announces New Album Details
Belgian death metal veterans Aborted will begin recording their seventh full length record from June onwards at the infamous Hansen Studios with producer Jacob Hansen (Invocator, Hatesphere, Volbeat). The band will be recording over 15 tracks for the album, currently titled "Global Flatline." The album will contain 12 tracks with additional bonus material featured on limited editions.
The artwork for "Global Flatline" will once again be handled by Justin Osbourne who previously worked with the band on its 2010 EP "Coronary Reconstruction" as well. Since 2011 marks the ten year anniversary of Aborted's "Engineering The Dead" record, the band decided to re-record two tracks of the album as part of the bonus material for "Global Flatline." You can vote for your favorite "Engineering The Dead" songs on the band's Facebook Page at this location.
Vocalist Sven de Caluwé comments:
"We are thrilled to be finally recording 'Global Flatline' and have the material out there. It is exciting in many ways, one being that this might be one of the most important records in Aborted's career. We really took our time in composing the most heavy and uncompromising material the band has written to date. Some of the material is faster than ever, some of the material is slower than ever, some old school and some new school, inspired by all eras of Aborted, yet still sounding unique on its own. Writing this record definitely took us back to the roots of why we started playing this kind of music in the first place, the passion and adrenaline you get from playing extreme metal. More...

Aborted Issues Album Update
Aborted has issued the following announcement about working on new material for an upcoming album:
"Everything has been going great so far with the preproduction of the upcoming album. We have about 13 skeletons of songs thus far. Drums are up next Mr Mike Heller (Malignancy, System Divide) will be engineering and assisting the drum pre-productions. Have to say we are all thrilled with the material and everyone has been chipping in, once we get a clear idea of the drums, vocals are next and we can start fine tuning and shaping the songs up to their final versions. Curious to see which tracks will make the final cut for the album. Needless to say this will probably be the most ruthless record the band has written period. We are going to tempos we have never been to before, some riffs are more tech than what we ever did, and everything still sounds catchy and crushing. Eran, Jb and Ken did a great job so far so now we just need to sit back and work out the kinks.
"Other good news is you will be seeing us this summer on some of the festivals, cannot say which yet but keep your eyes open for some announcements in the near future. If you live in Belgium/france/Holland/Denmark, check out the shows we have booked in april/may, might be in your area.
"Those of you who want to see our ugly mugs before that can go check out Sven touring the US with System Divide this February with Eluveitie and 3 inches of blood or Sorceron and Ken on tour with Abigail Williams this march with Rotting Christ and Melechesh. More updates coming on everything soon, keep your eyes open and spread the word!"
Aborted Writing New Album
Aborted vocalist Svencho has checked in with the following update about the band working on a new album:
"It’s been a while I posted something here to update the site but hey, we have been busy with many things. Besides Aborted I have been busy with the release of the System Divide record, check it out if you get a chance and further working on Avernus studios (graphic design studio) and Skarewear (serial killer/horror clothing line). The Kens have been busy with Abigail Williams who also just released a new album and are touring atm. Dirk has been busy touring with Soilw0rk and Jb just recorded the new Whorecore album, etc as you see we have all been busy on different levels.
"This however does NOT mean we are not working on Aborted stuff. Have no fear fellow misanthropes, we are hard at work on writing the next album, there won’t be much shows until we actually have the record out, but when it hits, expect it to hit hard! So far about 8 songs are written, the aim is to have about 11 ready for the record and 2 bonus tracks because well 2011 is going to be a special year for Aborted, more about that later! We have the whole concept written out and there won’t be any spoilers yet but I think there will be quite some surprises for everyone, in a good, horrific aborted way, of corpse! More...

Aborted Posts "Fuck The Volcano Tour" Update
Belgium death grinders ABORTED have issued the following tour update:
“Hey everyone, just a small update regarding the MACHINES OF GRIND tour we just started with our friends from ROTTEN SOUND. As we all know the package should have been completed by THE RED CHORD and THOSE WHO LIE BENEATH. Unfortunately, it seems the lord is not on our side and this whole volcano mess in Iceland, and the flight ban that followed, made it impossible for our American partners in crime to join the package. This left us struggling with what to do for several days, cancel the whole tour because we were facing increasing financial losses daily, or just grind on and say fuck it, no goddamn volcano is going to stop ROTTEN SOUND or ABORTED and Avocado Booking."
"Since we are all proud warriors and there is nothing we hate doing more than disappointing our fans, cancelling was not an option and we decided to move forward with the tour, being just ABORTED and ROTTEN SOUND in a co-headlining run with each day having the best local bands the promoters can offer :). This has been a very harsh start of the tour and we hope that we can count on all of you fans to make this DIY FUCK THE VOLCANO tour a blast, so show up as many and support the bands who are putting their asses on the line to show up every day." The Red Chord Announces East Coast Shows
Forced to miss its European tour with Rotten Sound and Aborted due to the effects of the recent volcano in Iceland, The Red Chord has lined up two shows for fans on the East Coast. The shows are as follows:
April 24 - New England Metal and Hardcore Fest in Worcester, MA
April 25 - Brooklyn, NY - Public Assembly with Premonitions Of War and Tiger Flowers.
Kozowyk offers this explanation about the European tour, "We did everything we could to make it to this European tour with Rotten Sound and Aborted. Unfortunately, our best efforts couldn't get The Red Chord or Those Who Lie Beneath onto the continent until it was far too late. The remainder of the tour is uncertain, but if Rotten Sound and Aborted continue with the rest of it, we strongly advise and appreciate your support of the remaining shows. We will do our best to make up shows before the end of the year and we thank the bands, agents and fans for their patience and understanding during this ridiculous situation."
Abigail Williams Working On New Album
ABIGAIL WILLIAMS has completed recording of individual performances for their still untitled second full-length. Captured at Conquistador Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, eight new songs were laid down with vocalist/guitarist Ken Sorceron and engineer Cole Martinez controlling the audio takes. The songs are currently being mixed by Peter Tagtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Celtic Frost) and are expected to be completed later this month.
Commenting briefly on the new material, Sorceron notes, "There are a lot less keyboards on the new songs. They are far more guitar-driven and have a bit more of a traditional sound in some ways but still very Abigail Williams sounding. We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album; kind of a more open, free environment than any we have employed before. The studio experience this time round was very natural to us. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe." More...
