My Ruin Comments On Peter Steele's Death

Los Angeles rockers My Ruin have issued the following comments about the recent death of Type O Negative front man Peter Steele:

"When I heard the sad news that Peter Steele had passed away I really didn’t want to believe it was true because 48 is so young and when someone you know dies it really makes you think about your own mortality and how life can be cut short in a moment. It makes you think of a lot of things. I met Peter back in 1996 when my previous band ‘Manhole’ was asked to join Type O Negative on their October Rust tour along with Life of Agony. We spent 2 months rockin the USA together and a cold and grey skied month in Europe which ironically seemed to be the perfect backdrop for the tour at the time.

"From the first day I met Peter I thought he was so funny but not in the typical funny guy way. He had this self-deprecating sense of humor that was kind of unusual for a front man in rock and he was definitely not your usual lead singer. He never seemed to take himself too seriously for a majestic man whose 6’7 commanding presence could come off very intimidating to those who didn’t know him. I always found him to be nice and even a bit insecure on occasion even and I used to joke that he reminded me of the Wolfman, Frankenstein and Dracula all rolled up into one sinisterly handsome rockstar. I remember being on the road together and after shows people would to ask me to introduce them to him because they were afraid to approach him which I always found funny and so did he when I told him.

"Writers were always curious during interviews as to how he was treating me while on the tour because he had such a strange reputation when it came to women. Once when we were doing an on the road feature for Metal Hammer Magazine he came backstage and saw I was doing a photo shoot and decided he wanted to be in a few shots with me so we hammed it up together for the camera. Before meeting Peter, I remember thinking he was probably going to be a complete asshole to me but he was actually the total opposite and I was pleasantly surprised. He was very sweet and treated me with respect while on the road which meant a great deal to me at the time. He went out of his way to make me feel comfortable and would always let me use the kettle, mirror and bathroom in his dressing room before we went on stage if ours happened to be a shithole which it was on many nights. It may sound silly but it was little things like that which meant a lot to me as a woman on tour with a bunch of dudes. More...

My Ruin Post "Slide You The Horn" Video Online

Los Angeles rockers MY RUIN have recently posted a new song on the band's MySpace page. The track "Nothing Is Sacred" is taken from the group's latest album, "Throat Full Of Heart", which was produced by Mick Murphy and Duane Burda and released through the band's own imprint label Rovena Recordings via Cargo Records UK.

In other news, MY RUIN has posted a fourth music video from the new album for the song "Slide You The Horn". The clip was filmed by two longtime fans and friends of the band — Tor Burrows and Ryan Cork of Acid Pie Productions — with footage shot at the Carling Academy in Birmingham, England on MY RUIN's January Tell Your God Tour. Also available is a live video for the song "Burn The Witch", which was filmed at the Whisky A-Go Go in February 2008. Both clips feature guitarist Mick Murphy, bassist Chris Lisee and new drummer Marcelo Palomino, who was vocalist Tairrie B's former bandmate years ago in MANHOLE/TURA SATANA. More...

My Ruin Part With Drummer, Announce Replacement

MY RUIN frontwoman Tarrie B has issued the following update:

"Matt [LeChevalier, drums] is no longer in MY RUIN. Before you think what we KNOW you must be thinking, let me explain....because there are no hard feelings.

"Matt joined MY RUIN in 2005 right after we released our last album, 'The Brutal Language'. We were coming off a very long tour in the States with someone in our band who we needed to replace immediately. Matt spent two years with us touring, recording the new album and making our new video for 'Ready For Blood'. We always knew that his time with our band was limited because he is a French citizen and there were both visa and personal issues he had to deal with which had nothing to do with our band.

"Matt is an amazing drummer. He helped us to create the most personal and powerful album we have ever made. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and will always have a special place for him in our hearts and remember his time with MY RUIN fondly.

"Now it's time for our NEXT announcement.....

"For the past two months we have been in the studio rehearsing for our UK tour with someone very special to us (especially to ME!). Some of you may remember him and many of you are about to meet for the first time in January. His name is Marcelo Palomino. You might remember Celo as my former drummer in both MANHOLE and TURA SATANA. We have been friends for many years and over those years, he has become like a brother to me and is family to the band.

"When I started MY RUIN in 1999 I actually asked Celo to be my drummer as I toured the 'Speak & Destroy' album in the UK.

"It's funny how things have come around full circle.

"Celo is a killer drummer, always has been, and there is a connection than runs deeply between us musically. We grew up on the road touring together for many years all over the world. We had no idea what it would be like after so long apart but it feels natural with him playing in the band. Just cool and really fun for all of us. The band sounds tight and we're counting down the days.

"We hope this was a great surprise for everyone and you are all just as excited to see Marcelo on stage with us as we are having him. It's been great so far and our setlist is pretty intense. So get ready!!!"

My Ruin Post New Song Online

Los Angeles-based hard rock band MY RUIN has released the video for its new song "Religiosity". The track comes off the group's new album, "Throat Full of Heart", due in January 2008 via the band's own imprint label Rovena Recordings in association with Cargo Records UK. The CD was co-produced by MY RUIN guitarist Mick Murphy and Duane Burda.

Nasty and Sinister, two guerrilla-style female filmakers from England (who shot and directed the MY RUIN video "Spilling Open" while travelling with the band and documenting their Brutal Language UK tour in early 2006) created the new video for "Religiosity" for the group's DVD, which is featured in the album's digipack edition. "We wanted this video to be totally different than our last one so we asked Nasty and Sinister, who have also created videos for our spoken-word side project THE LVRS and Mick's metal instrumental recordings 'Neanderthal' to edit something which would represent the song using various vintage stock footage and religious imagery instead of having the band actually perform," stated vocalist Miss B. "We really love what they came up with. [Even though] it might be misunderstood by some, it definitely fits the song and keeps with the theme of the new album which was very important to us as a band."

Watch the "Religiosity" video below.

The disc also includes the music video for the song "Ready for Blood", directed by Ben Le Vine, with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video along with a mini-movie of MY RUIN with never-before-seen footage of the band in the studio during the recording sessions for the new album as well as a personal photo/video film created by Miss B, titled "Through The Wound", which documents her accident from the injury to her recovery this past year.

My Ruin Post Another New Song Online

Los Angeles-based hard rock band MY RUIN has posted a new song, "Through The Wound", on the group's MySpace page. The track comes off MY RUIN's upcoming album, "Throat Full of Heart", which is set to be released in January 2008 on the band's own imprint label Rovena Recordings in association with Cargo Records UK. The CD was recorded at The Hobby Shop in Los Angeles and co-produced by MY RUIN guitarist Mick Murphy and producer/engineer Duane Burda.

According to vocalist Tairrie B, "Through The Wound" is a very personal song which was recorded only a few weeks after her car accident in late 2006. "I was still living in the moment in many ways, on heavy painkillers and not able to fully straighten my arm which was filled with staples from my surgery and skin graft at the time," she says. "I would be tracking vocals and my fingers would swell up and hand would go numb. It was all so surreal." More...
