Descend Issues Studio Update
Guitarist Alex Wijkman of Sweden's Descend has issued the following update about the band's time in the recording studio:
"Alright guys, as you might already know we have entered the studio to record our debut album. Here's a quick update from Essex, England.
"Andreas and Jonte arrived at Escape Route Studio last Monday to start recording drums. As you know we have a fucking amazing drummer, hence he managed to lay down drums for 9 tracks in 4 days. That's right people, the album will consist of 9 tracks, but that is all we will tell you about the album for now. I arrived today to start recording guitars along with Andreas. I went straight into the action and we nailed the rhythm guitars for 4 songs today!
"We have good help from our producer and owner of the studio Dan the great and his sidekick Joe, who really help us get the most out of our playing. Justin will fly down on Friday to start laying down some heavy grooves on the bass. Stay tuned for more updates during the following days!"
Descend To Enter The Studio
Sweden's Descend has issued the following update about gearing up to hit the recording studio:
"Hope you're all doing fine, cause I sure am. Except a little pain in my back caused from none-ergonomical digging but that's not important (please have pity). So Escape Route Studios is booked!
"We will be heading there in two rounds. First time will be in August, 10-27, recording as much as possible but vocals, and the second round starts off the 6th of September and I will have to the 11th to do all the vocals, which shouldn't be a problem.
"Our material is pretty much completed, there are few things left to deal with so withing a week it will all be done for sure and then we all just have to prepare ourselves individually. By that, I'm now going to listen a little to the preprod. I bid you farewell."
Descend Issues New Album Update
Sweden's Descend has issued the following update about working on new material:
"Good evening! It's been a while.. we haven't been rehearsing a lot. Most of our time is spent elaborating on the new material and started recording the pre production. We've completed guitar tracks for four of them bitch ass songs and tomorrow Andreas and Justin will have a smaller session of bass recording.
"If we're fortunate they will not only eat curry and drink beer but record a whole lot as well. Everything is proceeding just fine and we're all really happy with the songs we've got and those that we are still working on. I guess I will update you at least one more time before I cut myself out of reality and become one with the books and notepads to prepare for the examinations in late may. 'Til then - enjoy!"
Descend Signs To Supernova Records
Swedish metal band Descend has issued the following update regarding their recent signing to Supernova Records:
"We're are proud to announce that we're officially signed to Supernova Records, and the excitement is at top! This meaning that we've now switched to writing mode, hence we won't play as many gigs, instead we will write awesome music. Some songs are completed already, and some are still in the works. As I've told you guys in earlier posts we have a lot of ideas and new material to work with and with these news things are gonna get even better! We will record a preproduction as well to see how everything sounds when recorded, to make sure we bring you the best."
Descend Writing New Songs
Sweden's Descend has checked in with the following update about writing new material:
"G'day! Today it's Tuesday and that means we're gonna jam. Feels great. We have a little something something to work with. A couple of new songs are in the work and it'll be interesting to see where they will head. One thing is certain; greatness will be achieved!
"So.. beside new songs and such, what's new? We're gonna open for Soreption at Pipeline in Sundsvall the 3rd of March. They're having a release gig, for their new album 'Deterioration of Minds' and it will be one hell of a night."
Three sample Descend tracks are currently available for streaming via the band's MySpace page.
Descend Issues Tour Recap
Sweden's Descend has issued the following post-tour recap:
"Eeeey! We just came back from the Grave New Finland-tour that we were on with our friends Soulfallen and Preach. And it was.. how could I put this delicate? AWESOME! The venues we played at had great sound technicians and big scenes. I mean, these last few days rocked our worlds and we really got an appetite for this thing called touring. And we're really eager to do it again.
"Now that we're back we got (yes, I'm always talking for the others as well) a lot of inspiration to write new material. We will probably go to Andreas cabin next month and have a little writing session involving a good time, writing and beer. Thank you guys in Soulfallen for everything!"
Descend Announces New Tour Dates
Sweden's Descend has issued the following statement about their upcoming live shows:
"Hey there! Long time no see.. so here's a little something to fresh you up. Well, due to the winter break there has been a lack of rehearsing so we have a pretty rough time ahead. But it involves us spending time together in joy and happiness which is great, hah. No, but seriously.. it'll be great being back on track. The 29th we will take on The Garage in Märsta and have a hell of a good time on stage. And the day after, yes the 30th, we're gonna rule the stage on Brother Tuck! We're psyched and happy about these two gigs since they're ones before our first shows outside Sweden! Playing in Finland with our friends in Preach and Soulfallen will be legendary! I guess that's it for now."
Descend has the following upcoming tour dates:
1/29 2010 The Garage Märsta, Stockholms län
2/11 2010 Henry’s Pub Kuopio
2/12 2010 Lutakko Jyväskylä
2/13 2010 Dante’s Highlight Helsinki

Revolution Renaissance Parts w/ Bassist, Keyboards
Revolution Renaissance, who recently signed a three-album deal with Napalm Records, has announced that they've parted with the bass player Justin Biggs and the keyboard player Michael Khalilov. The band states:
"During the recordings of 'Age of Aquarius' it became evident to everybody that Revolution Renaissance was not the right band for the guys. Justin is more of a trash guy and Mike expected the music to be something totally different.
"Out of these reasons the decision has been made that it is better to go seprate ways. Both are great guys and the remaining members Timo Tolkki, Gus Monsanto and Bruno Agra wish them well and best of luck on their musical endeavours. Check out the new album of Mike's band Empyreon from iTunes and Justin's band Descend."
The remaining members have been writing songs for many months now and you can expect the follow up to "Age of Aquarius" sometime next year.
Descend Issues Band Update
Sweden's Descend has issued the following update about their recent activity:
"Hey!
"This has actually nothing to do with Back in Black.. what I meant was that we're back in business. We're all in Stockholm now and everyone of us already had the swine flu, the plague and whatever.. so now on Tuesday we're gonna jam all together for the first time since May. Feels great! The new song is going to be awesome! Andreas elaborated on one of Jontes songs and turned it into something else and added some stuff to it and it sounds faaaan-tastic! I just noticed on our bulletin that Justin also added things to it, but I'm using a computer with no Guitar Pro so I will have to wait..
"Uhm.. yea, we've heard a lot of great things about the demo/EP we released here on myspace. We thank you for that and we hope that you spread the word! Now that we know we're the best we may even attend to IDOL 2010 together.. perhaps not. Don't know if we told you guys or if you care but we no longer rehearse at Huset. We left them for a much better place. It was probably the best change we could do, so we gained a lot doing it."
