All great things must come to an end, as Montreal's iconic DIY metal band Endast has called it quits.
Since being birthed in 2004, the band's career has spawned The Promise” EP (2005), “Odds Against Tomorrow” (2006), “Black Cloud” (2011), “Thrive” (2014), a DVD release "Where I Belong” (2012), 600,000 kms for over 1,300 gigs, countless tours across Canada and the USA that included festival appearances at Heavy MTL & TO, and more. Before the end, Endast will be performing final shows in the following cities:
April 17 - Montreal, QC - Foufounes Electriques
April 24 - Ajax, ON - Rotilicious
April 25 - Hamilton, ON - Absinthe
Vocalist Big James comments: “Well, as these things so often go, the band was on shaky ground after the recent departure of our guitar player Pepe. His departure sparked a lot reflection and discussion on behalf of the remaining members in the band about where we are in our lives. Some of us have other goals outside of the band we'd like to accomplish. The amount of touring we do makes it prohibitive for some of us to accomplish those other goals and so a decision was made to close this chapter in our lives. We all care for each other a great deal and there are no hard feelings between any of us. Some of us will continue to make music together. All of us will continue to make music on some level or another. More...
Endast recently revealed a 10th anniversary tour (dates available here), and now the band has issued the following statement about parting ways with Pepe Poliquin:
"It is with a heavy heart today that we make the announcement that our 10th anniversary tour will be our last tour with long time friend and bandmate Pepe Poliquin. We wanted Pepe to have the opportunity to explain his departure in his own words:
It's with a lot of sadness that my times as a guitar player with Endast is ending soon but it's not on bad terms it's more for health and personal reasons. But you probably all know that I have arthritis and touring and sometimes playing is hard but the guys in Endast are not just my friends they are my brothers and you don't lose family it's always gonna be there for me.
And as for my future in music I don't really know what is gonna happen I love music and I will always play some but maybe more as a hobby. And for all the bands and friends that I have in canada it's time to say a goodbye but not forever cause I know I will see you all again I'm sure and you fans I'm gonna miss you a lot and thanks for the support and keep supporting the band. So I hope to see you guys on this tour and as for my brothers in Endast I wish you guys all the best and my heart will always be in Endast.
"Pepe has been a member of this band for many years and we have been through so much together. He's an integral part of our history and we could never have made it this far without him. He has sacrificed so much to help this band keep going and we will never forget that. We love our brother, we want him to be healthy and happy and wish him all the love we can possibly extend. We are super stoked that we get one last tour with Pepe. We would ask that everyone show him all the love in the world on this upcoming tour and send him off in style.
"With that being said, auditions are now open to the public. If you think you have what it takes to shred with Endast, please get at us. This is a serious band. We work hard, we tour hard, we party hard and we are ambitious as fuck. You have to be ready to be part of a family. If it sounds like something you'd dig being a part of, drop us a line on Facebook or speak to us at one of the shows on tour.
"We love you Pepe (aka Pepperoni, Peepee, Pepsi, Penis, Dr. Warmstick, Pepe Longstocking, Pepster)!!!" More...

Montreal's Endast has revealed a new video for the song "Martyr," taken off the 2011 album "Black Cloud." Check out the clip below.
The video was shot while Endast was stuck in a hotel room in Kamloops with a broken van and after having 3 guitars stolen midway on the coast-to-coast Canadian “The Elimination Tour.” While stranded, the band managed to come out of a the situation on top and eventually had all 3 guitars returned.
"When we got stranded in Kamloops on tour, we knew immediately that we had to be productive or the morale of the tour would suffer greatly. Endast is a band that isn't content unless we are working," commented singer Big James Arsenian. "The decision was made quickly to shoot a video, as we had the camera on hand already for tour vlogging. When the good people at Jagermeister refilled our booze supply while there, it just made sense to film the equivalent of an Endast staff party. The result is a fair representation of how we turn lemons into lemonade...and by lemonade, I mean a drunken night of debauchery in a hotel room." More...
