Spread The Metal Fest is gearing up for upcoming events in both Halifax on August 24th and 25th and Toronto on September 7th and 8th with bands such as Deicide, The Agonist, Skullfist, Black Moor, Deathpoint, Death Valley Driver, Sanktuary, Suffocation, The Agonist, Augury, Kittie, Nephelium, Derelict, Crimson Shadows, Deathpoint, Edge of Attack, Hallows Die, Beheading of The King, and many more!

Spread The Metal Festival is proud to announce the addition of American death metal band Deicide to its Halifax edition this coming August.
Deicide will be performing the band's only Atlantic Canada show of 2013 on the first day of the fest on August 24th alongside Erimha and Augury among many others at the Marquee Ballroom. Being held on August 24th & 25th, the fest will also feature The Agonist, Skullfist, Black Moor, Deathpoint, The Catalyst, Death Valley Driver, Sanktuary and many more.
All profits from the festival will be donated by Spread the Metal Records to The Heart and Stroke Foundation in order for them to continue their life-saving work.

Spread The Metal Festival has added all-female Canadian heavy metal band Kittie to the Toronto line-up, which also includes Suffocation, The Agonist, Augury, Skull Fist, Nephelium, Derelict, Crimson Shadows, Deathpoint, Edge of Attack, Hallows Die, Beheading of The King, and many more.
The bands will be performing to raise funds for Kiva, an organization that reduces poverty by providing monetary support to struggling entrepreneurs in developing countries.
This year's Toronto edition will be held at the famed Opera House on September 7th and 8th. Ticket info is available at this location. The lineup will be:

This September 7th and 8th, Spread the Metal Records will host the Spread the Metal Festival in Toronto, ON. The festival will see 100% of its profits donated to Kiva, a non-profit organization, which helps people around the world to lift themselves out of poverty.
Headlining the festival will be Suffocation, with additional headliners to be announced at a later date. Direct support will be provided by The Agonist, Augury and Skull Fist. Additional support bands include Beheading of a King, The Catalyst, Edge of Attack, Deathpoint, Crimson Shadows, Nephelium, Hallows Die, Evertrapped, Answer With Metal, and Sanktuary.
2 day tickets for the festival can be found at this location (individual day passes on sale June 1st).
To complement the festival itself, the label is launching a crowd funding campaign in order to raise additional funds for Kiva.
Among the perks are signed albums and set lists from every band at the festival, guitar picks, album downloads, etc. As well, fans will have the chance to attend the sound check, hang out with the headliner of their choice, and even punch a record label exec! Death metal veterans Morbid Angel have announced that they will be taking part in the forthcoming edition of the Heavy MTL festival. Heavy MTL 2011 is set to take place on July 23rd and 24th at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. You can view the entire festival lineup below.

Montreal's The Catalyst has issued the following announcement about recruiting a touring vocalist due to Matt Bailie suffering health problems:
"Due to the recent health problems of lead vocalist Matt Bailie (massive kidney problems, which require surgery and much bed rest) he will not be able to perform at our upcoming shows in Ontario and in Montreal in October. Filling in for him will be our good friend and lead singer from the almighty Cryptopsy, Matt McGachy.
"If anyone can deliver Catalyst vocals properly, it is without a doubt Matt McGachy, I suggest you check out these performances with The Catalyst as they will be as powerful and heavy as always! We would like to thank Matt McGachy for filling this spot so we did not have to cancel our upcoming shows in the fall. The Catalyst will be back to it's original lineup come early winter."
Canada's The Catalyst has issued the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist Justin Deguire:
"It is with a heavy heart that today The Catalyst announces that guitarist Justin Deguire has informed us of his intentions to leave the fold to pursue other opportunities. Justin has played an integral role in bringing the band to the point that we have reached now and his presence will be missed. We will continue to be close friends and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
"In the interim The Catalyst will be performing as a four piece outfit until a fitting replacement can be found. For all parties interested in auditioning please contact us through our Myspace or Facebook pages or preferably by email at firstname.lastname@example.org."
The Catalyst has checked in with the following update about Canadian tour dates alongside The Agonist:

Canada's The Catalyst has issued the following update about recruiting a new drummer:
"Through all the turmoil, trials and tribulations it is with great pleasure that we announce our new drummer, Teo Zamfir. You might recognize Teo from his days with Montreal's own Ammonia & Nation of Sin. We plan to go to great heights with Teo in the next few months, as well as plans in the future for our next studio album. You can catch Teo's first show with us March 4th @ Underworld w/ Kittie & God Forbid in Montreal, Quebec. Also, plans are in the work for a summer Canadian tour run, so keeps your eyes open for when we announce those dates.

Canadian metallers The Catalyst have issued the following update about seeking a new drummer:
"To all our fans, for many of you this is old news already, but we are actively seeking a new drummer. Our good friend Denis Potapov decided to pursue other objectives and we wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavors. We remain close friends with him, and we want to thank him in advance for agreeing to help us out with our February 5th gig with the mighty SLAVES ON DOPE!
"That being said, we are kicking this search into high gear now. We are currently searching for a talented, experienced drummer with the necessary drive, will, and equipment to tour on a serious level. We are looking for someone who is professional about his/her craft and willing to take this on as a full-time gig. As many of you know, we have a full album ready to be dropped soon, and we plan to tour heavily in support of it.

Canadian metallers The Catalyst have issued the following update about parting ways with their drummer:
"Some sad news to report today from The Catalyst. Our current drummer, Denis Potapov, has decided to leave the band for personal reasons. He will play his last show with us November 25, 2009 @ Cafe Chaos and the best part is that IT'S FREE! So come on down and watch Denis play with The Catalyst one last time. It was fun brother and you will be missed! We wish him the best of luck with all his future endeavors. As well, Simon McKay from The Agonist will be helping us out on the drums for some upcoming shows, always appreciated, stay tuned for more details.

"Unfortunately we had to drop off the show this Saturday @ The Edge Water bar in Kahnawake, Quebec w/ our friends in Avery's Descent and many more.
