God Forbid Post Update On New Album And More

New Jersey metal titans GOD FORBID have issued the following update:

"We just got back home from Europe last Wednesday. I've had a few days to sleep, and now I can finally give everyone a little update pertaining to all things GOD FORBID.

"First off, the DEVILDRIVER European tour was incredible. All of the shows were packed whether we were playing a small place or a big place. For the first time, we felt like we were starting to make a real impact in mainland Europe outside of the UK.

"I definitely have to thank the DEVILDRIVER guys for bringing us out there. It may be the best or at least most fun we've had on a European tour. I think I actually had too much fun, and certainly drank too much. I think I need a break from fun and drinking for a while. We'll see how long that lasts. I also have to give props to the opening bands, THE SORROW, who opened the mainland part of the tour, and MALEFICE and SOLITUDE who opened the UK dates. They are all kick ass and show lots of promise for the future. Highlights for me were Amsterdam, Munich, Belgium, Zurich, Cologne with Killswitch, Portsmouth, Manchester and London.

"In regards to the next GOD FORBID CD, this week we will resume the writing process for the new GOD FORBID album, and everyone is really jazzed to write. I think a good tour can be inspiration.

"The upcoming DVD is coming along very smoothly. Dave Brodsky just sent us rough cut edits of two songs from the concert, and I have to say it looks fucking incredible. Not to talk shit, but from what I've seen of some recent metal DVDs, our DVD is going to blow alot of the competition out of the water. So save your pennies, because that shit is gonna be hot! We also have some shows in the area with our friends UNEARTH at the end of the year. Those should be some fun shows. We may adding some more shows around X-mas, so keep your ears open."

As previously reported, GOD FORBID will support UNEARTH at two East Coast dates in December. The band has also scheduled a headlining show in West Springfield, Virginia. The details are as follows:

Dec. 05 - Jaxx – West Springfield, VA
Dec. 07 - Mainstage - Pompton Lakes, NJ (w/ UNEARTH)
Dec. 08 - The Living Room - Providence, RI (w/ UNEARTH)

God Forbid Post European Tour Video Online

New Jersey metallers GOD FORBID have posted a four-minute "behind-the-scenes" report from the band's European tour with DEVILDRIVER. Watch it below.

GOD FORBID filmed its live performance at the jam-packed Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ in February 2007 for the band's upcoming DVD. Music video director David Brodsky (GWAR, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, THE RED CHORD) led off the production, with his crew at MyGoodEye manning an eight-camera live performance shoot, also being edited by Brodsky. The entire performance was recorded and will be mixed by chief audio engineer of Trax East recording studio, Eric Rachel (SYMPHONY X, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ATREYU). In addition, official live and behind the scenes photos were taken by Adam Leota of Prophecy21.com, as well as the up-and-coming Maria Newman.

Regarding the upcoming DVD, guitarist Doc Coyle recently said, "Since this is our first DVD release, it's important to us to make this DVD as comprehensive and in depth as possible so that our fans feel like they get their money's worth and then some. A lot of bands put together crappy, bootleg, home video style DVDs and I think nine times out of ten, it is ripping off the consumer. We're going to work really hard to make this project incredible and worth of your DVD libraries." More...

Koch To Re-Release God Forbid Classics As CD

KOCH Records has announced the release of "Sickness and Misery," a new CD featuring two classic albums by the fore runners of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, God Forbid, on November 6th, 2007. "Sickness and Misery" will contain both the band’s first EP, the out of print "Out of Misery," and the band’s first full-length album, “Reject the Sickness,” combined together into one package.

Neither body of work has received the proper treatment it deserves until now as KOCH, in conjunction with the band, put the two releases on one CD and rename it Sickness and Misery. Featuring 16 tracks of sonic brutality these are the tracks that got the band signed these are the classic tracks that first put God Forbid on the map.

God Forbid’s Doc Coyle says “All in God Forbid are very excited to re-release these albums. It's an honor to be involved with a renowned label such as KOCH. Although 'Reject the Sickness' and 'Out of Misery' have been released in other modest formats, this is the first proper release with full distribution. I think RTS is a classic in the metalcore genre, that never really had its due, and OOM really gives true God Forbid fans a raw look at the foundation where the band was birthed. Having both releases on the same CD is a great idea! More bang for the buck! This is also the first time either album will see light of day in Europe. For all those who've been bitching about the rarity of these albums, please enjoy!”

KOCH Records’ VP of Metal Scott Givens adds, “We at KOCH are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with God Forbid and to give these classic releases the exposure they have so long deserved.”

God Forbid And Devildriver To Tour Europe

After being absent from European stages for quite a while now, U.S. modern metal masters GOD FORBID finally are about to return to Europe again when the band hits the road as special guests of DEVILDRIVER from mid-September on. Completing the bill will be metalcore hopefuls THE SORROW, who will be replaced by SOLITUDE from Oct. 8 on.

God Forbid Guitarist Posts Update

GOD FORBID guitarist Doc Coyle has posted this message on the band's official website:

"What's the word friends? Doc from GOD FORBID checking in once again. A lot has been going on in the GOD FORBID camp as always. First off, we can't seem to stay off the road. Haha. We'll be hitting up a two-week west coast run with our good friends in DEVILDRIVER. We have been trying to set up something with them forever, but it never seems to work out. They are some of my personal favorite people in the metal scene, and they bring the thunder live. Mayhem and drunken antics shall ensue. I will look forward to it. Suicide Silence is on the tour as well, and they seem to be really turning alot of heads. Can't to play with them! We'll be doing our own headline shows to and from the DEVILDRIVER tour as it takes place almost entirely on the west coast. These shows have been put together kind of last minute so tell your friends to come out bitches! We're also playing the 'Gathering Of The Juggalos" festival, and have been catching some flack for it on our myspace. Trust me, we were as suprised as you guys when we found out we were playing it, but ya gotta pay the bills. Driving across the country costs money. It's certainly not our cup of tea or comfort zone. Either way, it should interesting, and we'll see how we fit into that odd mix. White people rapping and black people playing metal. It'll be like an alternate universe.

While we've been home for the last few weeks working on the DVD and the new record. The audio for the DVD is done being mixed, and I have to say it sounds monstrous. Eric Rachel hit another home run. I love that guy! Dave Brodsky should start the editing process for the concert shortly, and I expect nothing but good things. We also filmed a bunch of interviews for the documentary, which I am sure will prove entertaining. Denise Korycki is working on the documentary, and she has a big task in front of her in regards to editing. She has every bit of footage ever shot of the band going back to 98 and 99. I am very interested in seeing what makes the cut. Hopefully, we can get it out this year, but we don't want to force it out until it's top notch. Let's keep our fingers crossed. We also started writing for the next GF cd. I can say it's going slow, but it's going. I'd love to get the record out next year, but no promises. We can't seem to stop touring, and the new record has to be a masterpiece or nothing at all. So I expect it to be a painstaking, heart wrenching process that hopefully we'll all survive. See you all on the other side. Peace."

Here are the band's upcoming tour dates:

Aug. 9 - Cave In Rock, IL - Hog Rock (Gathering Of The Juggalos)
Aug. 10 - Cedar Falls, IA - Reverb
Aug. 11 - Denver, CO - Bluebird Theater

The Blackout Argument "Decisions" Album Details

After the spring MCD-releases “Munich Angst” and “Munich Valor” on Bastardized Recordings and their very successful tour with BOY SETS FIRE in May, THE BLACKOUT ARGUMENT have now finished the works on their highly anticipated debut album “Decisions,” to be released September 10th, 2007 on Lifeforce Records.

Here is what guitarrist Christoph Zehetleitner had to say about the album:

"We are totally excited about finally having “Decisions” out in September! Since we started in 2006 everything went so fast and although we already made some amazing experiences with the band, we regard the release of our debut album as the first huge milestone in our history."

"We put in everything we had to make a killer album. The songs on “Decisions” are quite diversified, there’s tough hardcore songs, very catchy rock tunes but also some special tracks that underline the album concept. A good mixture of of all I would say. The final mix/master turned out amazing! Kohlekeller did a great job and gave “Decisions” a brilliant and powerfull sound that underlines both, the melodic and the heavy side of The Blackout Argument."

"To round everything up we asked Aaron / Sons of Nero to create the artwork and the result by far exceeded all our expectations. “Decisions” was always meant to be a concept album about making decisions and dealing with the consequences which is now perfectly displayed by Aaron’s dark and arcane comic-style art."

"We are more than happy with how “Decisions” turned out and can’t wait to hear the people’s reactions on it!"

“Decisions” features guest-appearances by Geert van der Velde (ex-Shai Hulud / Miscreants), Byron Davis (God Forbid) and Benni Buss (Flowing Tears). The Artwork created by infamous US design studio Sons Of Nero (Job For A Cowboy, Madonna, Unearth, etc.).

The album was recorded at Suiseidl Studios, mixed & mastered by Kristian “Kohle” Kohlmannslehner at Kohlekeller Studios.

THE BLACKOUT ARGUMENT will be touring on their “Autumn Arrogance Tour 2007” in late September. Tour dates to be announced soon.

Here is the complete tracklisting for THE BLACKOUT ARGUMENT's "Decisions":

The Agonist Sign Worldwide Deal With Century Media

Century Media announce the signing of montreal's The Agonist:

It is extremely rare to find an up-and-coming metal band taking strong political stands, much less one that’s led by a dominating, beautiful, edgy female. But it is exactly this unique dynamic that led Century Media Records to sign Montreal’s THE AGONIST (formerly The Tempest) to a worldwide deal. This quartet delivers introspective, scathing lyrics, and their debut album Once Only Imagined, which is set for a summer release, will definitely catch people’s attention.

Vocalist Alissa White-Gluz’s vegan roots fuel her need to promote the protection of the planet and its inhabitants, and she does so through this outlet. Along with guitarist Danny Marino, bassist Chris Kells and drummer Simon McKay, each member brings their own rich musical backgrounds to the table, creating the perfect expression of melody and madness. Make no mistake, this is a straight-up metal band that holds nothing back with one goal in mind: to make music that is as catchy as it is heavy; as sweet as it is loud; and as angry as it is melancholy. Be sure to visit www.myspace.com/theagonist for new photos and new tracks. A new track, “Rise and Fall,” also appears on Century Media’s free spring sampler.

Alissa states: “We were definitely intrigued when Century Media took notice, simply by chance, after hearing a few unmastered tracks of ours. This partnership with Century gives us the platform to say what we need to say and do what we need to do, and that is promote and educate the public on some fundamental causes that are quickly being forgotten, voiced through provoking music that carries the message home.” More...
