Caliban Begins Pre-production On New Album

German metallers, Caliban, issue the following update:

"We are currently in the pre-production-state and full speed working to move into the studio in a couple of weeks and record the successor of The Awakening. Be curious for the new songs, they're going to turn out a lot more somber compared to the last album! And that won't mean the only improvement, for the upcoming record we are in the middle of negotiations with a few labels! We were able to get an idea of the offers we received so far, and we already picked a favourite. The release date for the finished disk is going to be in Spring 2009, around March/April. The visual equivalent to the songs will be provided by Basti Basti of Callejon, who is going to add some dark touch to the album, he is responsible for the artwork of Heaven Shall Burn and War From a Harlots Mouth, just to name some." Kreator Reveals New Album Title And Release Date

Kreator has announced that their forthcoming new album will be entitled, "Hordes Of Chaos" and will be released on January 16th via SPV Records.

Hordes Of Chaos was recorded at Berlin’s Tritonus studios under the direction of producer Moses Schneider. Schneider is renowned for his fresh and exceptionally dynamic working methods with bands and artists such as Beatsteaks and Tocotronic. “We consciously decided on Moses as our producer for the live recording of the basic tracks at the studio,” band mastermind Mille Petrozza explains. “This was the first time since Pleasure To Kill that we worked in this way. The new album is a 100% realistic reflection of Kreator’s live qualities. Instead of exploring every little detail to sterile perfection with the help of computer technology, this time around we wanted to deliver as dynamic a production as possible. There can be no doubt that we’ve achieved our target in Hordes Of Chaos.” The album was mixed in London by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine, Cradle Of Filth, etc.).

The new studio album will be available in three different versions. The jewel case edition includes the ten regular album songs, and the deluxe version features an additional bonus DVD with an atmospheric making-of in super-8 quality courtesy of a Berlin film maker. As a third option, the ultra deluxe version, comes with a t-shirt, a worthwhile photo book and an extended version of the bonus DVD, as well as the CD.

As early as January, Kreator musicians Mille Petrozza (guitar, vocals), drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil, bassist Christian Giesler and guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö will embark on their two-month European tour alongside Caliban and Eluveite.

Six Reasons To Kill Readies New Album

Having survived several recent shake-ups which saw some members depart and join the ranks of Germany's top metal bands (Caliban and Deadsoil), SIX REASONS TO KILL has regrouped and returned with an even more massive album entitled, "Another Horizon." Now armed with a new vocalist, Thorsten Polomski, the band is planning a successful followup to their previous Tribunal Records release, "Reborn," which garnered critical acclaim from around the world. "Another Horizon" follows the same destructive path of its predecessor, but with more vocal melody infused into their now distinct "sledgehammer to your face" approach. Along with the unabashedly "metal worship" also comes a socially conscious album dealing with such topics as discrimination, environmental exploitation, racism, war and human rights.

SIX REASONS TO KILL's new album, "Another Horizon," will be in stores in North America on June 10th. You can check out the artwork here.

Dark Tranquillity Update From The Road

Dark Tranquillity are currently out on the road with Soilwork, Caliban and Sonic Syndicate. They posted an update on their website:

Things are so far going fine on the Eastpak Antidote tour. With The UK freshly conquered, we're now sharpening our blades to strike through the heart of the European mainland. Tonight's show in Den Bosch, Holland is entirely sold out, so it'll be a blast for sure. Some fan-filmed video snippets are up on YouTube, so do a quick search if so inclined. Tranquillity with one "L", please. British spelling.

All bands are delivering their metal goods with great intensity and dedication night after night, and it really feels like the whole tour is going down really well. Check out some blog posts from the various bands at www.antidotetour.com to get some perspectives on life on the road.
