Texan instrumental rock collective This Will Destroy You has just announced an upcoming U.S. tour supporting Deafheaven that is set to take place in February and March.
Following the special 10th anniversary edition of the defining "Young Mountain" LP, which was released through Magic Bullet Records in November, This Will Destroy You embarked on a series of shows to commemorate the re-released album in select cities around the U.S. with sold out performances in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and two shows in New York City
The newly-confirmed trek for early next year will see This Will Destroy You providing direct support for Deafheaven for twenty-four shows, beginning at Noise Pop Festival on February 23rd, in San Francisco, California and winding counter-clockwise through the country through March 27th, ending in Eugene, Oregon. On June 6th, 2006 (06.06.06), Texas-bred instrumental collective This Will Destroy You unleashed debut "Young Mountain" and never looked back. Initially recorded as a demo/document to commemorate four guys' college band, the scope never centered around the notion of the music being commercially released, as most of the band members intended to move on to more traditional careers after school.
The initial pressing was a mere 1000 copies, just enough to have something to sell at the merch table on the inaugural tour with labelmates Sparrows Swarm And Sing and the label's mailorder.
What happened from there can only be described as a true overnight sensation. The album's soaring guitar-lead dynamism, cascading cinematic passages, and jarring crescendos captured the hearts and minds of independent music listeners immediately upon release and has, a solid decade later, yet to loosen its grip.
As "Young Mountain" celebrates its ten-year anniversary, a retrospective look at the six-track, thirty-six-minute composition comes online. Magic Bullet will celebrate this groundbreaking offering with a special reissue next month on CD, digitally, and vinyl, and includes a previously-unheard song entitled "Sleep" recorded during the tracking of the album but omitted from the original pressing.
Texas instrumental collective This Will Destroy You will take to the streets this Spring with a short run of live excursions. Set to begin March 12th in Phoenix and close in March 22nd in Denver, the band will head West bringing sonic dreamscapes to ten U.S. cities.
This Will Destroy You released "Live In Reykjavik, Iceland" last Fall via Magic Bullet Records. Captured at Harpa Concert Hall, "Live In Reykjavik, Iceland" was engineered by Finnur Hákonarson, mixed by Alex Bhore and Charlie Vela, mastered by Alan Douches, and delivers eleven emotionally consuming live renditions of material spanning three epic albums ("Young Mountain," Self-Titled, and "Tunnel Blanket").

Comments the band, "It was both surreal and humbling to play one of the first songs we wrote as a band ten years ago in such beautiful surroundings. We were blown away by Harpa as a concert hall and Iceland in general. It felt like boarding a UFO in the best possible way." More...

THIS WILL DESTROY YOU will be featured on season 2 of the Fuel TV series "DRIVE: Notes From The Underground." The show features professional skateboarder Mike Vallely and documents his travels across the country in his quest to promote positive attitudes toward the sport. It's one of the few skateboarding shows left on television with any class or dignity and we are honored to have yet another one of our most exemplary bands be a part of this great series.
Look for the new season to begin later this year, only on Fuel TV.
