Nicholas Leptos Comments On Joining Warlord

It was previously announced that Nicholas Leptos of Arrayan Path has been named the new singer of Warlord. Nicholas had this to say in regards to the band’s future:

“I’d like to thank everyone for their amazing love and support! Working with Bill, Mark and the other guys from Warlord is a dream come true for me and I’m sure there will be great things to come! I also want to clarify that Arrayan path is alive and well! See you all soon!”

And here’s another recent update from Arrayan Path: "Arrayan Path has already started working on new music. At the moment we are working on a song called ‘Migrator’ and it has that old ‘first-album’ vibe.”

In related news, the first ever tribute album to Warlord has been released (on digital, with a CD version to come at the beginning of the new year) titled “Sons Of A Dream – A Tribute To The Majesty Of Warlord.” More...

Nicholas Leptos Named New Singer Of Warlord

Warlord mainman Bill Tsamis announced that the band will not be fronted by Arrayan Path vocalist Nicholas Leptos. Officially, Rick Anderson (who sang on the latest LP "The Holy Empire") and Dragonsclaw frontman Giles Lavery (who sang on "Kill Zone" from "The Holy Empire" and filled in for the band on its recent European Tour and upcoming DVD release) are out of the band.

The announcement reads: "Warlord will be now fronted by Arrayan Path main man Nicholas Leptos. Although Rick Anderson did a phenomenal job for us on The Holy Empire and Giles Lavery performed extremely well during the Warlord shows in April 2013, I have had my eye on Nicholas Leptos now for a long time for a few reasons: (1) The music for the next Warlord album will offer a heavier, epic power metal soundscape in which the voice of Nicholas will elevate our sound into a whole new realm. His vocals are ideal for the powerful epic material that I am composing for the next Warlord album. (2) Nicholas has also proven that he can perfectly cover every Warlord singer "live." In short, Nicholas Leptos will not only be able to carry Warlord into an even more epic future, but he will also be able to present the classic Warlord material in a "live context," perfectly covering every Warlord vocalist that has come before him. Needless to say, we are very excited to have Nicholas on board. In a word, he is the ideal Damien King that we had been looking for since the inception of Warlord. Warlord Announces New Lineup For Live Events

Bill Tsamis, founder of the legendary U.S. metal act Warlord, announced the band's new "live lineup." Though singer Rick Anderson will provide vocals on the upcoming release "The Holy Empire," the live vocalist will be Dragonsclaw singer Giles Lavery. In an announcement on the Warlord Fan Club Page on Facebook, Tsamis posted:

"First let me say this. When Mark, Rick, and I embarked on this new venture of doing a new Warlord album, I had no intention of doing any live shows, mostly because of my health situation (as many of you know). However, when we were invited by Oliver Weinsheimer of 'KEEP IT TRUE' to headline that German festival, and when I received clearance from my doctor that I could physically endure such a trip to Europe, suddenly we were approached by Greek promoters as well. Now, Thessaloniki and Athens were on the table.

"I realized (along with Mark) that the Warlord fans would primarily want to hear 'classic Warlord.' And as you know, there is a distinction between the 'classic Warlord' sound and the 'new Warlord' sound (which will one day become 'classic' as well). Although Rick is the perfect (ideal) singer for the 'new' Warlord, I knew we had to find someone who could approximate the 'higher range' style of the early Warlord vocalists. I had heard our friend Giles Lavery sing 'Lucifer's Hammer' already and I asked him to send me an audition tape of five songs... here, you will find excerpts from that audition tape (no 20 minute trailer here), and you will understand 'why' I (we) decided to go with someone like Giles, who is not only a great vocalist in the higher range (as well as the AOR style), but he is someone who has been a Warlord fan since his youth, and is a person who understands the mindset of 'the Warlord fan.'

"In sum, 'Rick is better suited to sing the new Warlord material while Giles is better suited to sing the classic Warlord material.' So, here is a taste of Giles Lavery as the Warlord vocalist for the upcoming live shows. The other players as mentioned above will be: Philip Bynoe (bass), Paolo Viani (guitar), and Angelo Vefeiadis (keyboards)."

Giles is also slated to provide vocals on the track "Kill Zone" for the new release. For a taste of Lavery, Warlord posted his live singer audition, which can be heard here: More...

Slavior Post 'Swept Away' Video Online

SLAVIOR — the band featuring ex-FATES WARNING/WARLORD drummer Mark Zonder, current MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP guitarist Wayne Findlay, RING OF FIRE/STEVE VAI bassist Philip Bynoe and TRIBE OF GYPSIES vocalist Greg Analla — has posted another video from its trip to Japan in August. Watch the "Swept Away" clip here.

SLAVIOR's self-titled debut album was released on April 3 via Inside Out Music.

The band had originally inked a deal with Greece's Black Lotus Records, but financial turmoil eventually caused the label to fold, leaving SLAVIOR to re-evaluate matters and come to their initial choice of labels, Inside Out.

A versatile, melodic hard rock/metal act, SLAVIOR's debut album features elements familiar to Zonder's progressive metal past, but also introduces a wide array influences including reggae, hip-hop, and modern rock. More...

Slavior Post New Song Online

SLAVIOR, the new band featuring former FATES WARNING/WARLORD drummer Mark Zonder, has posted the track "Origin" on its MySpace page. The song comes off the group's upcoming self-titled debut album, due in early 2007 via Inside Out Music.

A versatile, melodic hard rock/metal act, SLAVIOR's debut album features elements familiar to Zonder's progressive metal past, but also introduces a wide array influences including reggae, hip-hop, and modern rock. Rounded out by MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP guitarist/keyboardist Wayne Findlay and ex-TRIBE OF GYPSIES singer Gregg Analla, SLAVIOR is a band that has been a long time coming for Zonder.

"For a long, long time, I've always wanted to put something together that was based on the drum parts," stated Zonder. "It is very difficult to take a crazy drum idea and try to apply it to someone else's idea. Most of the time it turns into a mess. If you start with the drum part, and build from there, it seems to work out. With SLAVIOR, the songs are so accessible and groove-oriented, after 15 seconds, anyone should be able to lock into it."

The band had originally inked a deal with Greece's Black Lotus Records, but financial turmoil eventually caused the label to fold, leaving SLAVIOR to re-evaluate matters and come to their initial choice of labels, Inside Out.

"You hear the old saying, 'When one door closes, another opens,' and I think that is the case here," explained Zonder. "Inside Out was always one of our first choices. I've known Jim (Pitulski, Inside Out America President) for 20 years now and to come to his label is certainly something we’re excited about. Even after we inked our deal with Inside Out, we heard from other labels that we were in contact with that congratulated us and said that IO was a classy label. That's always a good thing to hear."

Pitulski commented: "Mark Zonder has been a friend and colleague for many years and I have long admired his incredible skill as a musician. It is with great pleasure and pride that we now welcome Mark and SLAVIOR to the Inside Out family. The release of 'Slavior' represents a unique challenge for Inside Out in that its sound is not necessarily typical of what we've come to be known for as a label. We're looking at this release as an opportunity to push our own boundaries just as SLAVIOR themselves are pushing the boundaries of modern music."
