Background
Children of Bodom was bred in spring 1993 when guitarist Alexi Laiho (Sinergy, Kylähullut, ex-Impaled Nazarene, Thy Serpent) and drummer Jaska Raatikainen (Virtuocity) decided to form a death metal band under the moniker "Inearthed." They recruited bassist Samuli Miettinen and recorded their first demo "Implosion of Heaven" in 1994. Soon after, the band added guitarist Alexander Kuoppala and keyboardist Jani Pera Pirisjoki. Later on, Miettinen and Pirisjoki left the band and Henkka Seppäla (bass) and Janne Warman (keyboards; Warmen) joined in.
With their own money, the band recorded their debut album "Something Wild" in 1997, blending elements of speed, death and power metal. The album impressed Spinefarm Records so much that they decided to sign the band. Inearthed changed its name to Children of Bodom (named after a notorious mass murdering that occured at Lake Bodom just outside of Helsinki in 1960) in order to get out of their previous contract with a Belgian label. Children of Bodom got a licensing deal with Nuclear Blast to handle releases to the rest of Europe.
Alexander left the band in July 2003, leaving fans in shock as the band had said that they would quit if one of its members left. But Alexi said "Children of Bodom ain't ready to fucking die yet!" as they recruited Alexi's fellow Sinergy guitarist, Roope Latvala (Walhalla, ex-Stone, To/Die/For, Waltari). After ruling Europe, Children of Bodom began to take over North America with their first ever North American tour with Dimmu Borgir in late 2003.

Children Of Bodom Posts New Lyric Video Online
Finland's melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are set to release their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band has unleashed the official lyric video for their new single "The Road." You can check it out below.
COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments: "This Road was actually the last song I wrote but it ended up being the opening track and also one of the singles which makes me happy cos it’s one of my faves. It’s different from anything we’ve done since Follow the Reaper but it’s still new. Check it out and you’ll know what I mean."
"Hexed" saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where they were reunited with Mikko Karmila ("I Worship Chaos," "Halo Of Blood," "Hatebreeder," "Follow the Reaper" & "Hate Crew Deathroll") who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Janne Wirman recorded keyboards at Beyond Abilities Studios. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.
For this album, the band enlisted Deins Forkas to create the album artwork. Bassist Henkka Blacksmith commented on the cover, “For some years already I have wanted to try a different approach with our cover art. We are so used to digital art so that is really hard to do something else. Doing it all the way with a computer is somewhat safe and convenient. This time we all agreed to try it old school. We found this cool dude and gave him simple instructions. The cover has to be purple and the reaper has to be central. Half a year later we got his work, and with a little tweaking, we have the cover of Hexed. It is very different from what we are used to, even the Reaper looks different, but at the same time very spooky.“
Hexed track list:
1. This Road
2. Under Grass and Clover
3. Glass Houses
4. Hecate’s Nightmare
5. Kick in the Spleen
6. Platitudes and Barren Words
7. Hexed
8. Relapse (The Nature of My Crime)
9. Say Never Look Back
10. Soon Departed
11. Knuckleduster
12. I Worship Chaos (live)
13. Morrigan (live)
14. Knuckleduster (remix) More...
Children Of Bodom Discusses New Album Direction
Finland's melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are set to release their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, guitar-wielding frontman Alexi chats about the musical direction of the band's new album. Watch the third trailer here below.
Alexi comments, "This time around, we had Daniel on guitar for the first time. It is a lot of fun for me to work with that dude 'cause he is very enthusiastic and has that hunger and drive to be involved. I love that drive and fire. He calls me up asking questions and throwing ideas around. Saying, 'Ya, let's get together and jam.' I haven't really had that in my life for a long time now that I think about it. And that is how we used to roll. We would just get together and play guitar just for the hell of it and really cool things would come out of it and this what we did with Daniel - it paid off and was fun." More...

Children Of Bodom Posts New Music Video Online
Finland's melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are proud to the announce the release of their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band reveals the official music video for "Under Grass And Clover" which can be seen below.
COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments: "'Under Grass and Clover' is the sound of COB on fire and has been my favorite song since it was written. It’s fast, melodic, heavy and dark but also short and sweet. Someone told me that it’s kinda like old school Dimmu Borgir and AWKand that’s pretty damn cool in my books so we must’ve done something right."
Hexed saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where they were reunited with Mikko Karmila (I Worship Chaos, Halo Of Blood, Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper & Hate Crew Deathroll) who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Janne Wirman recorded keyboards at Beyond Abilities Studios. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

Children Of Bodom Reveals New Album Details
Finland's melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are proud to the announce the release of their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8th 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records.
COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments, "People have said that this album is generally catchier. So I started thinking about that, perhaps the song structures are easier to grasp on initial listen. But there’s some crazy shit in there, almost progressive or at least technical. There are certain melodies across the album that could have come from jazz songs, although they’re completely metal with us, of course (laughs)."
"For me, it has always been very hard to describe our new music," comments bassist Henkka Blacksmith. "In a way it always feels familiar, but the new stuff also always surprises me. Here we have something that’s very Bodom, but somehow we haven’t done this kind of stuff, possibly ever. Then again, someone said that there’s a somewhat similar vibe to what Follow the Reaper had. I don’t know. Anyway, we had a really hard time choosing the songs for the videos, I guess that’s a positive problem to have." More...
