Spineshank Update On Current Situation

SpineShank drummer Tommy Decker has expanded upon the recent months of inactivity surrounding the band, here's what he had to say:

"Ok, so Its been forever since we've given you an update the reason for that is that we took a few months off and there was really no news to report. We had been through tons of singers and were pretty frustrated with the whole situation, so a couple of months off really helped clear our heads. Mike and I have been in the studio producing and recording other people (which we will continue to do) and Rob has been keeping himself busy with other things. In the past year we've written a lot of songs and tried out tons of singers, some that you all have heard of and some unknowns. A lot of these guys could've easily done the job of continuing SpineShank where we left off But we want more than that. So we held off until we found someone that we really clicked with. We've been working with someone for a while now and its going really good, (no names yet because of the legal bullshit) it has all the elements that SpineShank has always had, but it doesn't sound like SpineShank. We've never liked to repeat ourselves and have always expanded our sound after every record and this time is no different. The fact that there is a different voice singing over the music is obviously going to make a huge difference, and we are obviously in a different place musically than we were when we wrote SDP. A lot of that record was really forced, it was hard to get the 4 of us to agree on anything. There was a lot of pressure to write songs for the radio and there was a lot of fighting when it came to the direction the band should go in. For the 1st time in years it feels like a band again, writing music doesn't end in a fight and we all get along personally and creatively. As for the name SpineShank, Were not sure what were going to do yet. If it sounds like the next SpineShank record then I guess we will keep the name, if it doesn't... we wont. I'm proud of everything we've done, but its time to concentrate on the future and move on. Well, that's it for now. I will update again when there is something to talk about. "

Temper On Hiatus

Jonny Santos, former SpineShank frontman and more recently involved with his own project Temper, recently elected to take leave of the music industry for the foreseeable future, leaving the following statement behind:

"Hey everyone, First off i would like to thank all who have been so patient in waiting for Temper to surface with an album. Unfortunately I dont see that happening anytime soon. Temper will be going on hiatus and we dont know when or if the band will resurface. This is mainly due to myself and others in the band pursuing other projects. I know you guys are probably just getting used to me being in a new band but I just dont have the time to be in a band right now. I am trying to spend more time with my family lately since i was on the road for so many years and i need to take a break. Matt and Rob are also experiencing similar situations, as we all know that Matt owns Funeral Clothing(www.funeralclothing.com) which is a fulltime job in itself, and Rob is pursuing a new buisness venture that will take him away for a while. Jermz and Chris are going to continue with some sort of project and as soon as they are ready the will announce it on the message board which i plan to leave up and running for you guys. As for myself, some of you may know that i was a custom motorcycle builder before i was in spineshank. Well I will be doing that again for a while because its my 2nd love after music, and it will allow me to stay home for a while. It is safe to say that I will return to music eventually but I really need to breathe for a while.I will continue to manage bands so if any of you would like to submit material i will be listing a p.o. box on the message board for you this week. I hope all of you understand and I would like to thank you guys for all the support."

Spineshank Frontman Officially Gone

In a recent interveiw with Tommy Decker the drummer of SPINESHANK he states Jonny has officially left the band due to "discrepancies" within the band. Here is the official statement:

"The rumour is true. It is an amicable split and is mainly due to musical differences. The four of us have accomplished a lot of things together, the biggest being our most recent Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for 'Smothered'. We are all very proud of the music that we have made over the years but the time has come for us all to move on. As for the future of SpineShank - Mike, Rob and myself will begin the search for a new singer as we write new material and continue to build upon the foundation we have made as SpineShank.
We wish Jonny the best of luck in all of his future endeavors"
