Raven Post New Song Online
Legendary British/American heavy metal trio RAVEN has posted a new song, entitled "Breaking You Down", on their official web site. The track comes off the group's new album, "Walk through Fire", which was recorded at the Assembly Line Studios with engineer/mixer Kevin 131 (PROJECT: FAILING FLESH, DECEASED, DYSRYTHMIA, GARDEN OF SHADOWS).
Commented RAVEN bassist/vocalist John Gallagher, "It's taken this long so we are just crossing the t's and dotting the i's. It sounds so good we just want it exact — it's the right combination of spontaneous lunacy captured with the sounds we've always wanted."
RAVEN's last studio album, "One for All", was released in 1999 via Massacre Records. More...

Raven Play 'Blinder' At UK's Hard Rock Hell
RAVEN bassist/vocalist John Gallagher has issued the following update:
"Recovering from the lunacy of the last week — no sleep 'til bedtime!!! And bedtime never freekin shows up!"
"The Hard Rock Hell gig [in the UK] was excellent — a great set-up at a holiday camp at Minehead in South West England — right on the beach and surprisingly not that cold considering. We did see Bernie Torme and John McCoy's GMT band, who kicked major ass — nice guys to boot!"
"We came on like the nut jobs we are to a great audience and played a blinder. Stuck in a few new ones ('Long Day's Journey', 'Bulldozer', 'Walk Through Fire' and 'Breaking You Down') which seemed to go down very well, and had fun tearing down the banner above the stage and generally trashing the stage as is our forte. Met our old mates from AVENGER, Kim and Enid from GIRLSCHOOL, Brian from DIAMOND HEAD and an unresponsive Mr. Snider from TWISTED SISTER (oh well, he's still one of the good guys...). Then it was off to Heathrow to fight over excess baggage again and fly to Amsterdam and drive to Tilburg for Mario's Metal Meeting ...more to follow."

Raven Studio Update Posted
Legendary British/American heavy metal trio RAVEN has returned to Assembly Line Studios with engineer/mixer Kevin 131 (PROJECT: FAILING FLESH, DECEASED, DYSRYTHMIA, GARDEN OF SHADOWS) to resume recording its new album, tentatively titled "Walk through Fire".
Commented Kevin 131: "We have been working round the clock and everyone is fried. Thank goodness I started drinking coffee last year, overpriced Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts have been saving us all.
"The guys all decided to keep the previous four songs that were tracked here the way they are. I imagine we may revisit the mix a bit, but something nice was captured. To be honest, I am not sure what the hell we all did — so it was more of the same this time — set up and go! Don't overthink it... that's how RAVEN is best, no click track, no over doing it — capture their energy and don't look to make it happen later. If it don't happen on the way down, it ain't there. Of course, I don't really have to do anything- they have it all worked out.
"Seeing John [Gallagher, RAVEN bassist/vocalist] play that 12-string bass with his fingers is insane... then he bends the notes to boot. And Mark's [Gallagher, guitar] memory is crazy. We'll figure our way through a take, then next time, he pretty much has it.
"From what they tell me, some of these songs are brand new, so they are still sorting parts as we go. No micro-managing parts — the rawness and edge and punch are all there in the tones.
"Once again going for the 'All for One' vibe, but with the teeth of 'Life's a Bitch'. The songs are great and the guys are funny. I wish people could hear the outtakes of solos bass runs, and general stupidity. These guys have their chops, but also good senses of humor. Mark has his strings so high up with (bad) action I am not sure how he plays them... but it makes the tones killer, even if he has to brutalize the guitar — and all hail the 9 thousand dollar Veleno guitar... back to back on tracks with about three 150 dollar basses and guitars, it's all about the tone...
"I like this record, hopefully the people who have loved RAVEN all along will see it's good old RAVEN here! Dammit, everyone says it, but as a fan, this record is cool."
RAVEN's last studio album, "One for All", was released in 1999 via Massacre Records.

Working Title For New Raven Album Revealed
Legendary British/American heavy metal trio RAVEN has set "Walk through Fire" as the tentative title of its new album. The band is scheduled to return to the studio on July 9 to resume recording the CD, which is expected in late 2007/early 2008.
RAVEN last year recorded four new tracks — "Against The Grain", "Running Around In Circles", "Breaking You Down" and "Necessary Evil" — at Assembly Line Studios with Kevin 131 (PROJECT: FAILING FLESH, DECEASED, DYSRYTHMIA, GARDEN OF SHADOWS) engineering and mixing.
When asked by a fan on the band's message board if the songs laid down during the Assembly Line session will be re-recorded for the upcoming CD, frontman John Gallagher said, "They are more than good enough to go on the album. We may tweak the mix a little but it's not really needed — they sound THAT good. Actually, I had half of 'Against the Grain' when we did the last album and finished it up a lot later. The production is clear — uncluttered and powerful. Very straightforward... kinda [like] 'Life's a Bitch' with better drum sounds maybe."
RAVEN's last studio album, "One for All", was released in 1999 via Massacre Records.

Destructor And Raven Added To Metal On Metal Fest
The Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio will host a "Metal On Metal 25th Anniversary Concert" on Saturday, September 15. Featured bands include RAVEN (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal legends), ANVIL (Canadian metal veterans and Cleveland favorites who released the classic "Metal On Metal" album in 1982), PILEDRIVER (the "Metal Inquisition" rides again... Canada's '80s underground thrashers' first-ever Cleveland appearance!) and DESTRUCTOR (Cleveland's thrash metal legends... "Forever In Leather" CD-release show!). All four bands will be doing full headlining sets. Each is working on, or soon will be releasing, a new studio album.
The concert will celebrate the 25th anniversary (1982-2007) of Bill Peters' "Metal On Metal" radio program, heard every Friday night in Cleveland on WJCU 88.7 FM and streamed live worldwide at www.wjcu.org. The very popular underground radio program has featured import and independent heavy metal for parts of the past three decades. 2007 also marks the 25th anniversary of ANVIL's now-classic "Metal On Metal" album, which was released on Attic Records in 1982 and the theme song of the radio program.
Tickets are only $15 in advance and available at this location. http://www.beachlandballroom.com/

Raven Finish Mixing New Songs
Long-running British metallers RAVEN have just completed mixing four new songs — "Against The Grain", "Running Around In Circles", "Breaking You Down" and "Necessary Evil" — at Assembly Line Studios with Kevin 131 (PROJECT: FAILING FLESH, DECEASED, DYSRYTHMIA, GARDEN OF SHADOWS) engineering and mixing. Kevin has issued the following statement about the project:
"We just finished mixing the four tunes that were tracked over the last few days. We were all excited after tracking that the tunes came out so well. Since this was our first time working together, these were great test sessions to see how everyone works and to see if the next record would be cut together. We were moving fast, but John [Gallagher, RAVEN bassist/vocalist], Mark [Gallagher, guitarist], and Joe [Hasselvander, drums] are all pros and have no problems doing things quickly and in few takes. I was super surprised at how fast John cuts his insane vocals. One takes, perfectly in tune, no pitch correction needed… and it sound likes RAVEN. When he does his high pitched vocals he moves about 6 or 7 feet away from the mike. I am sitting there thinking there is no way this is gonna sound like it is in your face. Somehow, it does and works perfect. Unreal. More...
