Exhorder Guitarist Vinnie Labella Posts Update

Vinnie Labella has now issued the following update on the band's reunion plans:

"Isn't it amazing what just sheer persistence will get ya these days? Well, you asked for it and you definitely waited long enough for it and now you got it. I thought I would never utter these words again but here they are — EXHORDER is officially back in business! Hmmmm, that shit sounded good.

"After tossing this around for quite some time, we actually just decided to do this less than a week ago, so at this time we have no real direction on what we want to do as far as shows, tours, albums etc. As of right now, the first step is to get a new bass player and get back to rehearsing (Sparcello [former EXHORDER bassist Franky Sparcello] is currently incarcerated). Exhorder To Re-Issue Albums In May

The following press release has been announced:

The 80’s and early 90’s metal scene was known for being overcrowded with thrash metal acts, one more repetitive than the other. But despite this generic flood, there were a few names back then that gave new meaning to the word “thrash”. One of them was the Louisiana-based EXHORDER, a band who had a massive impact on all of future thrash metal. The group released two classic albums – Slaughter In The Vatican and The Law, which to this day stand as the embodiment of sheer thrash power and aggression. While during their career they were rather overlooked, Exhorder resurfaced years later as a thrash metal legend, highly praised by heavy music enthusiasts for their two amazing albums. Rumors of a reunion still echo around the metal scene, but as always – nothing is certain.

Both Exhorder titles will be released by Metal Mind Productions on May 19th in Europe / July 8th in USA (via MVD). New digipak edition is limited to numerated 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc

Exhorder - Slaughter In The Vatican tracklist: 'Death In Vain', 'Homicide', 'Desecrator', 'Exhorder', 'The Tragic Period', 'Legions Of Death', 'Anal Lust', 'Slaughter In The Vatican'.

Exhorder - The Law tracklist: 'Soul Serch Me', 'Unforgiven', 'I Am The Cross', 'Un-Born Again', 'Into The Void', 'The Truth', 'The Law', 'Incontinence', '(Cadence Of) The Dirge'.

More Details On Retro Grave's Trouble Re-make

Jeff "Oly" Olson (TROUBLE, RETRO GRAVE) has tapped Vincent Wojno (TROUBLE, MACHINE HEAD, KREATOR, TESTAMENT) to produce and engineer the first two RETRO GRAVE albums. The debut CD, now simply titled "Run", is a re-arrangement of TROUBLE's "Run to the Light" (originally issued in 1987 via Metal Blade). Special guests on the "Run" album include former TROUBLE bassist Ron Holzner; members of RISE TO ADDICTION, TROUBLE and NOVEMBERS DOOM; Kyle Thomas (ALABAMA THUDERPUSSY, EXHORDER, FLOODGATE); Leif Edling (CANDLEMASS); Sammy Duet (GOATWHORE, ACID BATH); and up-and-coming guitarist Mike "Rebeard" Schermuly.

"Run" is currently being recorded for an early 2008 release. A record deal is being nogotiated, the details of which will be announced in the very near future.

Kyle Thomas briefly fronted TROUBLE in 1999 and is "a welcome addition to the 'Run' album," says Olson. "All of my guests are very talented musicians that I'm psyched to work with, especially my new friends from the UK, RISE TO ADDICTION [who toured with TROUBLE in Europe earlier this year]. These guys are hard-working and extremely talented group of guys, as [is] my new permanent guitarist, Mike 'Redbeard' Schermuly from Portland, Maine."

FLOODGATE, the New Orleans band featuring former EXHORDER and current ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY frontman Kyle Thomas, will reunite to perform at Nola Underground's first annual Raise The Dead festival, set to take place Saturday, January 13, 2007 at One Eyed Jack's (615 Toulouse Street) in New Orleans. It also aims to revive New Orleans' unique musical culture by helping displaced musicians return to New Orleans, creating gigs and replacing flood damaged instruments. The NOHRF empowers the musicians to earn a living and heal the community with music.

"If this helps out just one person and gets a horn or a guitar in their hands again, then it's all worthwhile," commented Al Hodge, guitarist of THE MUDDPIGGS and member of the festival's organization team.

In addition to FLOODGATE — who will be making their first live appearance since 2002 — the festival will feature performances by SKAB and S.I.K. Alabama Thunderpussy Check In From The Studio

ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY are currently holed up at The Etching Tin Studios in Richmond, VA with engineer Ian Whalen putting the finishing touches their brand new full-length, Open Fire.

Open Fire will be the first ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY record to feature new vocalist Kyle Thomas (ex- EXHORDER / FLOODGATE) and is expected to see a March 2007 release.

ATP drummer Bryan Cox reports; “I can’t say enough good stuff about recording Open Fire and recording with Ian [Whalen]. We’ve trimmed the fat and streamlined what we do down to the most potent and essential elements. Ian has done an incredible job of capturing the raw energy and power that we strive to deliver in our live shows.”

Thomas adds; "It is so good to be back doing what I love most... These songs run a wide spectrum of emotions and I believe that there are some truly special moments on this [album] that pleased my soul. Ian has really pulled something better from us."

You can check out some photos taken during the recording session here.

Additionally, ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY has announced a string of tour dates starting in late October to road test the new material. Here are the currently confirmed tour dates: More...

Alabama Thunderpussy Add Exhorder Vocalist

ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY has announced the addition of vocalist Kyle Thomas (ex- EXHORDER / FLOODGATE) to its lineup.

Thomas states: “This band is stocked with amazing musicians and most importantly quality people. It's great to be in the fold and an honor to be considered by such a great, hard working band as ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY. Above all, a big thank you to goes out to Karrie Hill for contacting me so that this could all be possible.”

“Kyle is a world class singer with an impressive résumé that includes being a founding member of seminal New Orleans metal band EXHORDER and singing with other acts including FLOODGATE, PITTS VS PREPS and TROUBLE.” comments ATP drummer Bryan Cox. Cox continues; “With the singer situation resolved, we will be headed quickly toward hitting the studio and getting it [the new record] on tape. If you are at all familiar with Kyle's work, then you know what he is going to bring to this ATP record. It will be very special and we feel honored and fortunate to be taking the next step forward as ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY with him as a part of the team.”

Guitarist Erik Larson adds “We knew right away that Kyle was the man for the singer spot when we heard him singing on some of the new material. Personally, as an EXHORDER fan, I felt a bit star struck that this guy was singing on our music. It's amazing. So we got him up to RVA for a visit / meet and greet / rehearse - ie: alcoholocaust ATP style. It went perfectly. Couldn't have asked for a better dude to join the band. I’m f*cking stoked!”

ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY has been writing for the new record since last July with the music for 14 songs already completed. The writing process will be rounded out with the addition of Thomas’s vocals for what will be their sixth full-length studio album. Expect to see ATP road-testing this new material soon.

Exhorder's Status Is "Permanently Disbanded"

Long-defunct New Orleans metallers EXHORDER — cited by many as the originators of the riff-heavy power-groove approach popularized by PANTERA — have issued an official statement in response to persistent rumors that the band will get back together to play select shows and/or record a new studio album. The statement reads as follows:

"In response to all the email requests and offers for EXHORDER to get back together and/or to play shows we would like to thank everyone for all the support and encouragement but EXHORDER will NOT be getting back together. Sad to say, but the official status of EXHORDER is 'permanently disbanded.'"

EXHORDER relased two albums in the early 1990s through the Roadrunner label — 1990's "Slaughter in the Vatican" and 1992's "The Law" — (later released as a 2-in-1 package from Roadrunner Records) before breaking up, with vocalist Kyle Thomas going on to form FLOODGATE (and also briefly appearing live as the vocalist for TROUBLE). Thomas is now devoting most of his time to his new band PITTS VS PREPS, which he has described as "center[ing] around the truest sound of heavy metal in the realm of old JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN."
