Anvil Chorus Posts New Music Online

After three successful San Francisco reunion shows, '80s progressive NWOSFHM (New Wave of San Francisco Heavy Metal) band ANVIL CHORUS have wrapped up mixing 12 songs for a tentative late 2008/early 2009 release. The tracks are all re-recorded, new versions of the popular cassette demo songs that have been widely traded in the worldwide metal underground for the past 25 years. These cuts have been updated and have received quality production. The sessions are being produced by guitarist Thaen Rasmussen and vocalist/bassist Aaron Zimpel along with guitarist Doug Piercy, drummer Joe Bennett and keyboardist Phil Bennet.

Two of the early mixes, "Death Of A Dream" and "Phase To Phase," are available for streaming on the ANVIL CHORUS MySpace page. More...

Anvil Chorus To Play Reunion Show, Release Album

Legendary Bay Area metal band ANVIL CHORUS will be playing a one-off gig at the Rampage Radio 24th anniversary show on April 21, 2006 at Annie's Social Club in San Francisco. The group's lineup will consist of the following:

Thaen Rasmussen - Guitar
Aaron Zimpel - Bass, Lead Vocals
Joe Bennett - Drums
Phil Bennett - Keyboards
Carlos Hernandez - Guitar

In other news, ANVIL CHORUS are currently recording the album that never happened in the mid-'80s. Gere Fennelly has bowed out on keyboards, but drummer Joe Bennett's brother Phil has stepped in and is said to be "a great keyboardist." Doug Piercy (ex-HEATHEN) is still in the fold for the album and future shows, but is unable to attend the Rampage show. Filling in for Piercy is Carlos Hernandez of BLACK SUN.
