Interview with Lofat

Norfolk, Virginia's emperors of thrash metal LOFAT have had quite the year here in 2006 and continue to draw a strong worldwide following mainly due in part to their heavy promotional attack via the web and networking sites like MySpace. They have a growing legion of fans or 'fatheads' I supposed you could call them who continue to champion this group of true underground metal heroes. They are refreshingly one of those rare bands today that are totally uncompromising in their own approach to heavy music. The band is getting ready to unleash its debut record on us here very soon and so I am very happy to be able to get some Q&A in with their guitarist and bassist, Simon and DZL. More...

Interview With Simon Of Lofat

Norfolk, Virginia's thrash specialists Lofat have been causing quite the havoc this year on tour and in the studio. They are set to release their debut full-length album on Brickhouse Records at the start of August, and I for one cannot wait to hear the damage they have done. I decided I wanted to get more of the fat, so I hit up their sexy as all hell and down from the get-up guitar player, Simon, with some new questions. More...

Interview With DZL of Lofat

Brickhouse Recording's growing underground metal sensation, Lofat from Norfolk, Virginia is a band on the serious rise. They have kept busy on tour and are working toward completing the highly anticipated new material of the fat. They seem to have really won over quite a few new fans via Myspace so far. I enjoy this band so much I think because they do metal with a fresh approach, a bit quirky at times, while mixing in a lot of the straight ahead old school hardcore punk/thrash sound. Roaches is their debut video that you can checkout on their site as well -- it's totally killer from my perspective. I have always said they had an immediate star in Simon on guitar... and the rest of the boys aren't chop liver themselves. Ha! But Simon on lead guitar for Lofat and Jenna from Southern Cross, who sounds like Dime's little sister, oh man...lol. They are both something else on the scene right now. Such great talent. Well, I tracked down Lofat's bassist DZL to answer some questions on how the low end is being held for the fat. More...

Interview With Lofat's Zeus

Norfolk, Virginia's Lofat continues to make strong waves in the metal underground, having recently produced their first video for the song Roaches under the Brick House Records label. The video, directed by Fabian Rush, is quirky, dark and totally fresh in its approach. I have always felt that this is a metal outfit that simply will not wear the same uniform and clown makeup that most seem to think is a prerequisite for delivering heavy music today. I believe that this is their main strength, beyond the fact that they offer a very compelling mix of old school hardcore and the metal/punk vibe that Suicidal Tendencies became so famous for. I had the chance recently to get some Q&A in with their entertaining drummer, Zeus. More...

Chewing The Fat With Mishun Of Lofat

Norfolk, Virginia's Lofat is a young and determined thrash metal band that is now hooked up with Brickhouse Records. They have certainly yielded quite a bit of interest on the local Virginia music scene over the last year and are quickly making their name known in the underground metal scene through sheer force of will and yes, Myspace. Whether bringing the thrash ala Suicidal Tendencies or going for the monster grind Pantera-style, this band clearly shoots for the stars when it comes to how they represent metal's great legacy as it moves forward. I went to the guy who does Lofat's screaming, talented lead singer, Mishun, to see what the skinny is.

Simon Says: Sharing The Love With Lofat's Lead Axe

I have been following Brickhouse Recording's, Lofat, a thrash metal act from Norfolk, Virginia for going on nine months now. Besides their inventive combination of old school metal meets new. They have featured in their talented lineup, Simon, an easy on the eyes female axe shredder. This babe can truly throw it down with the best of them, producing some of the most blunt force trauma-laden riffs I've heard from anyone in the past several years. I took this opportunity to get more of the skinny on the band and this true metal vixen. More...
