Taproot Post New Song Online
Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has posted a new song, entitled "You're Not Home Tonight", on the group's official blog. The track comes off the band's forthcoming album, "Our Long Road Home", due later in the year via an as-yet-undisclosed label.
TAPROOT's follow-up to 2005's "Blue-Sky Research" was reportedly produced by Tim Patalan and is the band's first album since parting with Atlantic Records in June 2006. They're also reportedly working on a DVD, but there's no word as to when that will see the light of day.
Bassist Phil Lipscomb previously stated about the new CD's title, "[it] is a unique and expressive tribute to our newly found collective freedom of creativity as a band, with no strings attached. It's a tribute to the casual and comfortable settings of being at home with friends and family — a place we love to be."
Taproot Complete New Album
Bassist Phil Lipscomb of the Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has issued the following update:
"For those of you who have been reading our blog for the past year, you may remember a little comment I made back in March 2007 when we finally started working with our new producer and I joked you could expect our album in January 2008. Well, here we are February 2008 and you guys are still waiting patiently, right?... RIGHT?!?! Okay, maybe not so patiently, but things are moving forward."
"The album is officially complete, mixing and mastering are finished. From here we are shopping the album around to various labels and seeing what our best options are. As usual in the music business, things are taking longer than expected, but that's because we're trying to put out the best product we can." More...
Taproot Reveal New Album Title
Bassist Phil Lipscomb of the Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has issued the following update:
"As you are all aware, we have been working extremely hard and are in the final stages of finishing up our new album. All of the recording is finished, the album is getting mixed as we speak, and we're all very excited to move into the next phases of our careers.
"We put a great amount of time and energy into this record, our blood, sweat and tears...this is the culmination of a band that's been together for ten years...and looking to continue on for another ten. We have been lucky enough to have developed a solid fan base of true music lovers from all over the world, people that appreciate our hard work and know that we are grateful for them in return. You guys have allowed us to travel to some amazing places, meet a wide range of people, and see places most people only get to read about in books. Through all of this, we remain the same down-to-earth guys from Michigan that started this adventure ten years ago.
"We began recording demos in 1997 at Woodshed studios in Ferndale, MI. The songs on this record are the first recordings we've done back in Michigan since we were signed in 2000, and this is the first record we wrote and recorded in its entirety in our home state. It's been more of a fun process than a business concern for the first time in a long time, which has been nice and lifting to the material and to us. It's got some really great songs that we think all of our fans will really relate to and love, and it also has a first for us — a female singer singing on one of the songs called 'It's Natural'.
"The coming months will bring many exciting things from TAPROOT, from new videos on YouTube to a release date for the new album, but for now we are pleased to announce the title of our new album: 'Our Long Road Home'. The title is a unique and expressive tribute to our newly found collective freedom of creativity as a band, with no strings attached. It's a tribute to the casual and comfortable settings of being at home with friends and family — a place we love to be."

Taproot Begin Mixing New Album
Bassist Phil Lipscomb of the Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has issued the following update:
"As far as the [new TAPROOT] album goes, we found the right guy to mix it. He's already mixed one song for us and it sounds great. He really brought out the best in the song, made it what it should be. We're excited to hear what he does with the rest. After it gets mixed, we're going to be shopping it around to labels as soon as possible so we can get it out early next year. We're hoping for March, but I have a feeling that's going to get pushed back. These things take time, but we are on the right track. We'll also be touring around then, but probably not before. Most common question being asked is, 'When are you coming to (insert city here)?' We won't be touring until we have a release date, but when we do, we're going to try to hit everywhere we can. For those of you in Europe, look for us to do some of the big festivals next summer. I hope we can hit places on this next album cycle that we've never hit before, Australia being the top on my personal list, but we'll see. We'll do our best!"

Taproot "Nearly Finished" New Album
Bassist Phil Lipscomb of the Ann Arbor, Michigan hard rock band TAPROOT has issued the following update:
"I've been getting a lot of messages from people asking me for album updates, so now I'm FINALLY getting around to telling you guys what's going on. WE ARE FINISHED!!!...almost. As far as recording goes, I'm going to be re-recording my bass on the verses of one of our songs to give it a different feel (something a little more straight-forward than I did before) and one little vocal part on another song is going to be redone, and then WE'LL BE FINISHED!!!...almost. Then comes mixing and mastering, getting the albums printed, promo for the album, getting it distributed in stores, iTunes, etc., etc. Still some time to go, but the end is in sight. I'm sure everyone wants a release date so they can mark their calendars and have something to look forward to, but for now we really don't know. I don't even want to give an estimate because sometimes things just take longer than expected. Thank you all for your patience, and I hope you feel it's worth the wait. I'm also going to be bringing TaprooTube [TAPROOT video channel] back soon, I have lots of footage I've been playing with, but I'm working with a new video program (Final Cut) which although has a ton more features than Windows Movie Maker, it's also a lot more complicated and takes me a bit longer to get things done. Soon, though, soon..."
TAPROOT's follow-up to 2005's "Blue-Sky Research" is reportedly being produced by Tim Patalan. It's unknown yet if it will be released independently or through a major label.
