Abigail Williams Announces Return

As previously reported, Abigail Williams has reformed. The group has finally issued a statement on the matter:

"As many of you may have already heard, Abigail Williams has officially reformed and will be releasing a full-length record sometime next year. We've posted a pre-production recording of the new track, 'VII Empyrean: Into The Cold Wastes,' in our music player and have launched a new Online Merch Store accessible from our page. We'll also be taking part in the Death By Decibels Tour this Nov/Dec. We're fortunate enough to have secured a dedicated touring lineup consisting of newcomers Kristen Randall and Tommy Haywood as well as former members Bjorn Dannov, Mike Wilson, and Zach Gibson. This is definitely an exciting time for us as a band and we hope you look forward to this new record as much as we do. With that said, please do come out to one of these shows and let us know what you think of the new material!"

Enslaved, Dark Funeral Tour Report

Even though Mark's in Bedford, NH is very close to my house, this time I decided to venture the vastly unknown territory of Hartford, CT. My main motive was the size of the venue allowing for better photo opportunities. I know from past, bitter experience that the NH/ MA area isn't a cultivable environment for BM so I was harbouring high hopes as to the number of attendees at the Webster. Which were boosted by the fact that the previous night's show in Poughkeepsie had been cancelled, so I thought hordes of fans would relocate to Hartford tonight. More...

Abigail Williams Begin Writing Debut Album

Having recently completed their first national tour alongside Dark Funeral and Enslaved, Phoenix-based ABIGAIL WILLIAMS starts work on its full-length debut this week. The band is expected to finish tracking in early April, with the as-yet-untitled album to be mixed and completed by early May. The band's EP, "Legend", was released Stateside on January 23.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will be a performer at the California Metal Fest, scheduled for March 31-April 1. The event will be held at the Galaxy Concert Theater in Santa Ana. Also scheduled to appear are Testament, Flotsam and Jetsam, Sadus and Necrophagist, among many others.

Amassing an impressive quarter million hits to its MySpace page (in under six months), ABIGIAL WILLIAMS defies classification by taking the groove and melody of Gothenburg-styled death metal, face-smashing breakdowns of the hardcore scene and topping it with the bombastic and epic-flavored frostbite of black metal's evilest hordes.

More Info On Dark Funeral, Enslaved Tour

Candlelight Records recently announced its second North American label tour package. Set to kick off January 9 Candlelight II: Phoenix Rising will feature the long-awaited stateside return of Dark Funeral (Sweden), Enslaved (Norway) and introduce newcomers Abigail Williams (USA). The tour will visit 20-plus cities before concluding on February 4.

Dark Funeral guitarist/founding member Lord Ahriman says, "since we announced the first European tour dates for our latest album Attera Totus Sanctus earlier this year, there has been a constant and completely overwhelming flow of mails from the US and Canada asking when the hell we will tour North America. Well finally dates are being booked! Last time we toured the US supporting Cannibal Corpse in 2002 we had a blast. Everyone we met during that tour was really cool. The crowd was totally awesome. It'll be killer to finally return overseas! I have the feeling that this is going to be one hell of a tour and we hope see you in January!"

Enslaved guitarist Ivar Bjornson adds, "I have awaited this moment since I don’t know when and now it is official: an extensive Enslaved tour in North America is becoming reality. We have been working every possible angle of getting over to present our music for years. We are looking forward to seeing each and every one of you at the shows. You won’t be disappointed; neither will we."

The tour continues Candlelight's growing commitment to the live forum. Recent Candlelight artists to visit the US include Vader (Poland),Destruction (Germany), and Emperor (Norway). This fall Candlelight will present tours from Dismember (Sweden), Epica (Netherlands), 1349 (Norway), Sahg (Norway), Daylight Dies (USA) and Witchcraft (Sweden), with additional festivals and tour announcements to soon follow.

Dates and ticket on sale information for Candlelight II: Phoenix Rising will be announced shortly. The first date to be revealed is as follows:

January 9 - Springfield, VA @ Jaxx

Abigail Williams Working w/ Ex-BDM Drummer

Arizona-based extreme metal band ABIGAIL WILLIAMS have issued the following update:

"We are now gearing up to record our first full-length CD for Candlelight Records, which we think will hit stores in the fall. Right now we are currently hammering out pre-production demos and putting the final touches on some new songs. We are also happy to announce that we are working with drummer Zach Gibson (GUTROT, IN BATTLE ARRAY, ex-BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) for the album as well as some upcoming tour stuff. We will be busy rehearsing with this dude this month until early June and then it's off to the studio."

According to a recent press release, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS "take their influences from the best of the best from the old and the new and blend it into a unique and multifaceted hybrid. They have the groove and melody of the Gothenburg-style death metal, the face smashing breakdowns of the hardcore scene topped with the bombastic and epic approach favoured by the frostbitten black metal hordes. Starting only in the summer of 2005, a home recorded demo was put together to showcase the songs Ken Sorceron [vocals, guitar] had written over the years and featured Ashley Jurgemeyer on piano/keys. Connor Woods laid down the vocals and before long the demo, dubbed 'Gallow Hill', was born. These songs were distributed on the Internet via band pages set up on MySpace and PureVolume and, purely by word of mouth, resulted in an astonishing quarter of a million plays in just six months! Inspired by the response to his music, Ken put a full line up together featuring some ex-members of the Metal Blade act VEHEMENCE and started to play local shows with a view to branching out further. Unfortunately this line-up didn't work out and soon Ken was back working solely with Ashley. Local guitarist Brad Riffs was found and a new demo song, entitled 'Watchtower', was recorded with Ken now also taking up the vocal role. Throughout the line-up changes and everything else, Candlelight Records were waiting in the wings and watching developments with bated breath. Once the new stable line-up was put into place, a multi-album, worldwide deal was signed."

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS's upcoming CD will be recorded with the legendary James Murphy (TESTAMENT, DEATH, OBITUARY) at his new Florida-based production facility. ABIGAIL WILLIAMS look forward to hitting the road with a vengeance in the later part of 2006, including a prestigious slot on one of the EMPEROR reunion shows and a U.K. tour with friends SUICIDE SILENCE.
