Bleed The Sky Offers Update From The Road
Bleed The Sky guitarist Kyle Moorman offers this update from the road while on the Jagermeister-sponsored tour with Ill Niño, God Forbid, Silent Civilian and Eyes Of Fire:
"This is the BEST tour we've been on! We've done two shows in New York City and Boston and both nights were awesome. We're always pushing ourselves to be better, to find new stuff to do on-stage, to give it our all for our live shows, and crowds like that definitely give us the energy we need to do that! Cristian [Machado, lead singer for Ill Niño] has watched our set every night. It's very flattering to have someone appreciating our music like that, and we're still on the road with our great friends in Silent Civilian. They REALLY helped us out when the transmission on our van blew up in Albuquerque by taking a lot of our gear in their trailer so we could make it home. I'll say it again: This is the BEST tour we've been on!"
Annihilate the Hero To Support Bleed The Sky
Annihilate the Hero has been confirmed to support Bleed the Sky and Silent Civilian on a short series of shows through Texas. The shows are:
April 2 - Tac Room - Dallas TX
April 3 - White Rabbit - San Antonio TX
April 4 - Club Onyx - McAllen TX
Silent Civilian Comment On Nothingface/Crossbreed
Silent Civilian frontman/guitarist Jonny Santos has issued a statement regarding the Nothingface/Crossbreed situation that took place on the bands tour together, here's what he had to say:
?Regardless of any differences some bands may have with Nothingface, I would like to say this... We have been on this tour since day one, and Nothingface has treated us like family. Being in a band and touring for the better part of the last 8 years, I have learned that there are certain guidelines and rules that apply when you are a support act. Knowing this, any band on a tour like this should follow these guidelines. That?s just how it is. If you don?t play ball, not only is it not cool, but you could find yourself being kicked off of a tour. With that said, we have had the best time on this tour and feel that we have life long friends in the Nothingface family/band/crew. There were difficulties between certain bands on this tour that could not be rectified, and it was very unfortunate. None of us wanted to see that happen. But... from a 3rd party that was a witness to everything that happened, I would like to say that we feel Nothingface are some of the most awesome guys I/we have ever had the pleasure of touring with, and we are sad that the tour is coming to an end. If ever asked to tour with them again, I would not hesitate to accept their offer."
Ex-Spineshank Singer: "I Wasn't Having Fun"
MTV.com reports:
It's been two years since Jonny Santos left Spineshank, and the singer says he has no regrets about the move. He's starting from scratch with his newest project, Silent Civilian. The band is on the road through the end of the month with Nothingface, and on April 18 its debut offering, Rebirth of the Temple, will hit the streets. Santos says he couldn't be doing better these days.
"I think I made the best record I've made in my entire life, to be honest with you," he said from the back of Silent Civilian's RV. "This was the first time I didn't have anyone telling me, 'Oh, we need a single. Oh, we need this. Oh, we need that. We have to keep the songs under three minutes and 30 seconds.' It's a very dynamic record — it's brutal and passionate. I'm in the band now that I've always wanted to be in."
Spineshank had run their course for Santos. "I wasn't having fun anymore," he said. "I didn't feel like I was making the music I wanted to make, and I wasn't happy with the way our relationships were going as individuals. Spineshank did what it was going to do, and I don't regret one day of being in that band. It was just done. We were nominated for a Grammy, and I wanted to go out on a high note."
While he left the remaining members of Spineshank behind to pick up the pieces — they've since recruited Brandon Espinoza to replace Santos and will soon rename the group — Silent Civilian are in fifth gear. The band recently shot a video for the album's title track with director Scott Culver (Yellowcard, Mikoto) at Santos' childhood home — the singer hosted a barbecue in the backyard and invited all of his friends down to throw 'em back. Static-X's Wayne Static, former Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader and Soulfly's Roy Mayorga all make cameos in the clip.
Santos says there are big things in the works for the summer. Nothing is set in stone yet, but he'd like to see Silent Civilian added to this summer's Sounds of the Underground run, which will feature As I Lay Dying, Trivium, Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder and Cannibal Corpse, among others.
As for Silent Civilian's debut, the band recorded 15 tracks, 13 of which will make the final list. One of the leftovers, he says, was a cover of Slayer's "War Ensemble," which will appear on a forthcoming, yet-untitled tribute to the band due in stores June 6. Other songs include "Funeral," "Lies in the House of Shame," "Live Again," "Force Fed" and "Falling Down," which was inspired by the Michael Douglas flick and, Santos said, "is like the most brutal thrash song ever, dude — it just f---ing kicks your ass for four minutes straight."

Mediaskare Records is looking to Slayer's fans to name our upcoming tribute compilation to Slayer. A MySpace page has been set up here where fans are encouraged to send their album title suggestions. In addition, video clips of New Dead Radio recording "South Of Heaven" and The Burning Room recording "Mandatory Suicide" have been posted on the MySpace page. Videos are set to be added weekly to the page to document the making of this unique compilation.
Set for an early 2006 release, the compilation is set to have song contributions from the following artists: Death By Stereo, On Broken Wings, Asesino, Scars Of Tomorrow, The Esoteric, Cold War, The Taste Of Blood, New Dead Radio, Silent Civilian, Contra, The Human Abstract, The Burning Room, In This Moment, Suicide Silence, A Different Self, plus more T.B.A.
Mediaskare To Release Hardcore Tribute To Slayer

The tentative list of participants includes The Warriors, On Broken Wings, Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory), New Dead Radio, Silent Civilian, The Taste Of Blood, Cold War, Contra, and The Burning Room.
In 2003, a similarly themed tribute was released by Spook City. The compilation, titled "Cover in Blood" included performances by Most Precious Blood and Sworn Vengeance but tracks were confined to the material from Slayer's classic "Reign in Blood" album.
The label is aiming for a November 8th release and expects to confirm more artists shortly.
Silent Civilian Sign With Mediaskare
Former SPINESHANK frontman Jonny Santos' latest project SILENT CIVILIAN have now signed a deal with Mediaskare following their departure from Cleveland-based Corporate Punishment Records. There are said to be plans for an early 2006 release, and tour to support the release.
Silent Civilian Part With Guitarist
Former SPINESHANK frontman Jonny Santos has issued the following update on his SILENT CIVILIAN project:
"I know I havent posted in a while but as I'm sure you all know, I have been busy as hell. Well there is a lot going on right now and I think you guys/girls should know what is happening. There is bad news, and good news.
"Bad news. Due to personal reasons not related to the band, Ryan [Ready, guitar] has decided to bow out and leave the band. This was not an easy decision for him and he will truely be missed. I have been friends with Ryan since high school and have had the pleasure of being in two bands with him and his presence has always brought a smile to my face and those who have had the opportunity to play with him. Chris [Mora, drums], Henno [bass], and myself wish him only the best in life and hope that he finds the peace he is looking for. He said to tell all of you that he is sorry, and he thanks you for the support given during his time in SILENT CIVILIAN. I am sure we will eventually see Ryan surface in something else, but he has much to deal with right now and this band is too demanding of him at this present time. Thank you, Ryan, you will be missed.
"OK, onto the good news. Because of Ryan's departure, we were in a scramble to find someone good, and someone fast. I thought of a lot of people and the one person whom I knew would be right for the job was an old friend of mine by the name of Tim Mankowski. I have known Tim for roughly 15 years and he just so happened to be in BASIC ENIGMA with me and Tommy for a couple of years. He was a shredder back then, and he still is. So… I want everyone to give Tim a big ol SILENT CIVILIAN welcome!! He auditioned the day after Ryan left and is currently up to pace with us in less than a week. He is a great guy and a very talented guitar player. We look forward to having a great carreer together. As soon as he has a MySpace page, we will post a link.
"Finally, we [have posted] the last and final song you guys will get till the record comes out. . .The name of the song is 'Divided' and [is] the first song you hear when you load the [MySpace] page.
"Those of you who are on the West Coast might get an opportunity to see the band live as we are preparing to play a few dates in California next month. We will be playing in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area just to have a little fun. We feel we should get our feet wet, and hope our Cali fans can make it out. I will post the dates as soon as they are booked."
