Nonpoint Issue Studio Update
Here's the latest updates on all sorts of things from NONPOINT drummer, Robb Rivera:
"well new music, writing, writing, writing. the cool thing about writing this time is that everyone is bringin full songs in the mix now. really cool vibe going on here. like the old school days all over again. getting in a room creating, jamming, laughing. i am still amazed that we have been together, us four since late 96/early 97. lot of bands cant really do that anymore. we have been really lucky that not only we love playing music we have been cool to each other, respecting one another, looking out for everyone in our circle. and the most important thing is writing the music that we love and are able to give to you. i wont talk about the direction of the music because so many bands say this is the heaviest, blah, bla, bla. i will say this, the songs that are finished are some of my favorites already that we have ever written together. i know some of you heard a new track called 'whatcha gonna do' at the revolution show. heard good response on it and that is always a good thing.shows, touring.....
we have a show on april 21st in orlando, fl at the hard rock live with drowning pool and i believe candiria. also there seems to be a show booked for dallas for may, not sure if it is confirmed as of yet. also we are looking at a trip to puerto rico as well. we are looking to book a headling tour for may maybe the end of may. looking for venues and bands as we speak.
goals......
well another challenge for all of you, continue to spread the nonpoint word to everyone. be it by talking about the band, getting them to come to the website or visit the myspace page, getting them a cd, playing them a cd, burning them a cd, i dont care, burn them a few songs so they can hear it and if they like then hopefully they will get the cd, burn a few songs and pass them out at show. put the name of the record on the cd, website adrress. whatever you can do to help please do and it will be greatly appreciated."
Remaining Damageplan Members To Attend WAFF Show
Boston's WAAF 107.3 FM has announced that surviving DAMAGEPLAN members Patrick Lachman, Vinnie Paul and Bob Zilla will attend the 2005 WAAF Indoor Beach Party on Saturday, April 9 at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA. DAMAGEPLAN headlined the annual concert event in 2004 and has chosen to make one of their first public appearances since Dimebag's untimely death at the upcoming annual event.
The lineup for the 2005 WAAF Indoor Beach Party includes Zakk Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SKINDRED and NONPOINT. Tickets are available through Tsongas Arena and Ticketmaster.
A history of friendship and support stands between Dimebag Darrell and the 2005 headliner, Zakk Wylde of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.
Vinnie Paul had this to say: "DAMAGEPLAN had the opportunity to headline the WAAF Indoor Beach Party last year and it was a blast… Glad to see the tradition continue with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.
"WAAF is a true rock radio station in every sense of the word and we really appreciate their support of PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN over the years. It will be an honor to be in attendance this year as WAAF and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY pay tribute to the baddest MF I ever knew, my brother Dimebag Darrell… Let's have some black tooths and keep on keeping on…Getcha pull!!!"
Zakk honors Darrell Abbott on the newly released BLACK LABEL SOCIETY album, "Mafia", in the form of the song "In this River". Wylde is also heard on the track "Soulbleed" on DAMAGEPLAN's 2004 album, "New Found Power".
Tragedy struck the music industry when a shooting occurred at the December 8, 2004 DAMAGEPLAN concert in Columbus, OH. Guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed, as were the band's head of security, Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, an employee of the club, Erin Halk, and a member of the audience, Nathan Bray. Chris Paluska, a member of the band's management team who was serving as tour manager, was shot and put in critical but stable condition. John "Kat" Brooks, the band's drum tech, was also shot and wounded.
WAAF is offering a limited-edition t-shirt as a tribute to Dimebag Darrell. All proceeds from the sales of this piece will be donated to the Dimebag Darrell Memorial Fund. The fund covers bereavement and medical expenses for the victims and their families. The t-shirt may be purchased through www.waaf.com or at the April 9 WAAF Indoor Beach Party.
