Scott, Nate, and Chris love old thrash but nothing like that was coming out anymore so they decided to start a band of their own on Halloween night 2001. About six month’s later guitarist Ben, formally of Upheaval, was asked to join the band and that’s when the guys started to get serious about the project.

Fast forward to 2005, the bands self-released EP caught the attention Metal Blade Records and landed them the record deal they'd been seeking. In early 2006, the band released their Metal Blade debut "One."

Since the bands inception they have already played with the likes of Exodus, Malevolent Creation, Extol, King Diamond, The Black Dahlia Murder, Obituary, and played the main stage at the New England Hardcore and Metal Fest.

Demiricous Among Victims Of Indy Burglaries

A stretch of recent robberies, from the Shurgard Storage Center (now Public Storage) located at 933 North Illinois Street in downtown Indianapolis, have left numerous Indianapolis based bands in shambles. Tens of thousands of dollars worth of music equipment is missing with little, to no assistance being offered by the facility or the Indianapolis Police Department.

Around 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27th, members of local bands Demiricous and The Dream Is Dead arrived at Public Storage for an evening of band practice. Upon arriving, they discovered their storage unit, located on the third floor of the facility, empty and ransacked. Local based bands Demiricous, The Dream is Dead, Two-Bit Terribles, Whiskeytits, and Black Arrows of Filth & Impurity, among others, occupy rental storage units at the downtown location. Bands that have been affected by this string of robberies, have endured losses of an estimated $25,000.00 worth of musical equipment.

"No one kept track of the serial numbers of their equipment, I am just sick over this", said Jared Southwick, guitarist for The Dream is Dead. More frustration is setting in due to lack of help from authorities. Although police reports have been filed by many of the band members, local police authorities claim that there at 5,000 theft cases ahead of them. The Public Storage facility will not release surveillance videos and are not cooperating with the victims. "They honestly don’t act like they care at all", says Southwick. Most of the equipment, now in the hands of the soulless robber(s), holds sentimental value and is irreplaceable.

According to Dave Britts, member of Black Arrows of Filth & Impurity, "the storage facility had several cases of theft over the last few months and did nothing to warn the tenants, not even something as basic as a flyer. It’s mind blowing". Typically, stolen music "gear" appears at pawn shops in and around the city and online re-sale sources, such as EBay. "We want to make sure the media is aware of the bands’ situation and ask them for help, to stir things up with the storage facility and authorities. I want to help make sure that area pawn shops, music stores, and online communities are on the look out for specific equipment", said Erin Mullen with IndyMetal.com and friend of many involved.

"Unless you are part of this local music community, you can not begin to understand how detrimental this is. This potentially robs Demiricous, a nationally signed touring band, the livelihood of touring this fall with their new CD release. The remainder of the bands affected, are key players in our local community. It’s a tremendous set back, as a promoter who is relying on some of these bands to perform at scheduled events and to everyone that support our friends at their shows. It is devastating." says Mullen.

Vital Remains Kicked Off Of Opening Show

Scheduled to kick off their East Coast tour tomorrow, Sept. 30, in Bedford, NH with Dismember, Grave, Demiricous and Withered, Vital Remains was notified yesterday that they were not welcome to perform at the first show. Vital’s guitarist, Tony Lazaro states, “We were scheduled to play with Grave and Dismember up at Mark’s Place in Bedford, NH but the promoter booted us from the show. He said since we are ‘affiliated’ with the ‘evil’ Glen Benton that he wanted nothing to do with us. I guess he had heard what happened at the Deicide show in TX, heard he sang for us on our last record and is gonna sing for us on this next one and was worried that, I don’t know, we’d be sacrificing children of something. We told him that Glen wasn’t even going to be on this tour with us. I think he’s sitting home in FL right now ready to go out on the road with Deicide. The guy didn’t even care. We are guilty by association! We’re sorry to anyone up there who was planning on seeing us. We’ll try and get up there soon, we just need to find a promoter who isn’t afraid of us, and by the way, everyone knows we sacrifice goats on stage, not children. Metal”

Scheduled to record the follow up to 2003’s Dechristianize this winter, Vital Remains has already announced that Glen Benton will be returning to record vocals for the new album. Re-released this spring was the band’s Horrors Of Hell compilation which contains the band’s early demo recordings.

Vital Remains Comment On Upcoming Tour

VITAL REMAINS are gearing up to corrupt the Atlantic Seaboard. Heading out with Dismember, Grave, Demiricous and Withered the tour starts in Bedford, NH and ends in Montreal, Canada. Fueling the band’s inferno, the raging line-up will include mainman Tony Lazaro (guitar), Dave Suzuki (guitar), Anthony Geremia (vocals), Necrotorture’s Antonio Donadeo (drums), and Ron Green (bass).

“Just checking in with everyone right before Vital hits the road again,” mainman Lazaro commented yesterday, “Going out with Dismember and Grave is going to be killer! These are two great old school death metal bands that really helped define the Swedish Death Metal sound. A brutal assault; Death Metal the way it was meant to be, fast and heavy!!

“I know people have been wondering about the new record…well, it’s just about 100% written. More importantly, it looks like Mr. Benton is going to be doing vocals for us once again! We were able to work around Deicide’s crazy touring schedule, and we’ll be hitting the studio by the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted on all the info and if you haven’t already, go pick up Deicide’s Stench of Redemption…it’s an amazing record. Hope to see everyone in the underground come out and as always, thanks for the support! LET THE KILLING BEGIN!” -I-ony666

Re-released this spring was the band’s Horrors Of Hell compilation which contains the band’s early demo recordings.
