Azagthoth Calls "Radikult" A "Silly Song"

Guitarist Trey Azagthoth of Morbid Angel thinks that the band's "Illud Divinum Insanus" album was a "confused effort" whose hard to place direction eventually led to the exit of vocalist/bassist David Vincent.

In an interview with Guitar World, Azagthoth tells:

"It just shows how David and I are in different worlds these days. He is, for sure, an artist and great in his own way, but was becoming so very different than what I was into. It was a confused effort and that is why I changed the lineup. More...

Morbid Angel Singer Slams Divisive Media Rhetoric

Morbid Angel frontman Steve Tucker, who is currently promoting the band's upcoming album "Kingdoms Disdained", states in an interview he recently gave Metal Mofos:

"Honestly, dude, the most uninformed people in the world have to be poor American people. If you're so poor that you can't afford cable or the Internet to get varying opinions of things, then the opinion that is shoved down your throat is the most uninformed, unnewsworthy thing that you can ever hear."

Morbid Angel Frontman Slams Clickbait Culture

Morbid Angel frontman Steve Tucker criticizes the fact that the 24-hour entertainment news cycle forces journalists to come up with sensationalized headlines for stories that are at times misleading.

Tucker, who is currently promoting Morbid Angel's forthcoming album "Kingdoms Disdained", tells Metal Rules in a new interview:

"In America, one of the big problems is the fact that the news has now become part of the entertainment business. There's so many competing news organizations that are just looking for ratings. So, everything is so sensationalized and even metal. Metal has become so sensationalized. There's so many metal web sites and metal magazines that are really just about gossip and not about metal. And, really, I have to say, personally, man, it breaks my fucking heart, because metal was always a different culture, man. Metal didn't have anything to do with pop culture whatsoever. It was about people that want the same as everyone else and they didn't just want to listen to candy-ass music. People were little bit different, a little bit of a counterculture.

Morbid Angel Issues More Details On New Album

Legendary death metal unit Morbid Angel will unleash the ninth studio album on December 1st via Silver Lining Music and JVC in Japan. Titled "Kingdoms Disdained," the record reunites founding guitarist Trey Azagthoth with bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker.

Just one play of Morbid Angel's searing "Kingdoms Disdained," and you'll realize that this is the only true current aural document of a world sinking into uncharted despair. "The album title says it all," says Tucker, "everybody's fed up and nobody can figure out how to fix it. We've got all these miniature wars in neighborhoods, cities, countries, and we've got people with varying opinions causing chaos, yet everyone is doing what they feel is right. Which all makes it feel like the world has reached a point of utter madness and confusion."

As if fate constructed the moment, these forefathers of death metal found themselves witnessing the storm's eye as they prepared to create "Kingdoms Disdained," deciphering it with their ferocious music via long-held Sumerian-based beliefs. "It's been written but nobody pays attention, because we erase our history," furthers Tucker. "We don't understand much about the Sumerian texts because things got erased, buried, and broken up. And for years, Trey and I talked a lot about the idea of those Gods waking up and coming back to show us that they're angry." More...

New Bands Added To Brutal Assault 2017

A bunch of new bands have been announced for the 22nd edition of Brutal Assault, which takes place this year in Fortress Josefov near Jaromer in the Czech Republic on August 9-12. Returning once more are heavy-weights Hatebreed, who last graced the fortress stages in 2012 and 2013. This is reportedly in response to festival-goers requests for more hardcore in the line-up.

The Dillinger Escape Plan will be including the festival in their series of farewell dates. It looks like the band's appearance here won't be affected by the bus crash that caused some European tour dates to be cancelled last month. Dillinger last played Brutal Assault in 2015.

Thrash veterans Overkill, touring in support of their recently released 18th studio album, "The Grinding Wheel", have also been added. No stranger to the fortress stage, Overkill last appeared at the festival in 2013.

Helsinki's Wintersun are newcomers to Brutal Assault, appearing for the first time. Can we assume they will be playing material from their long-awaited third album? There's no official word as yet. More...
