Mayhem Bassist Comments On Attila's Addition
As some of you may already know, MAYHEM have set "Ordo Ab Chao" as the title of their new album, due later this year. The band's upcoming CD will mark their first release with vocalist Attila Csihar (TORMENTOR, ABORYM) since their 1993 album, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas". Attila rejoined MAYHEM in November 2004 as the replacement for departed singer Maniac.
In a recent interview with Decibel magazine, bassist Necrobutcher said about Attila's addition to the group: "It's the inspiration we all needed in MAYHEM. Attila is more committed to the band than almost all three of us together, and that inspires us too. The songs from the rehearsal place sound great. We still have the same aggressiveness. Everything you want from MAYHEM is there. We didn't give in to any kind of commercial thoughts in any way. It's a step from our last album again. If you have our discography, then you will see that every album is completely different, which has something to do with the fact that we usually take two or three or four years in between each recording. There's only so much you can do with a guitar and a drum kit and a bass. We want to show our fans and ourselves that MAYHEM will always be quality over quantity. I'm pleased to say that we have released 38 songs in 21 years. It's all those bootlegs that make the MAYHEM collection look so fucking huge."
Blood Tsunami Writing New Material
BLOOD TSUNAMI, the Oslo, Norway-based thrash metal band featuring drummer Bard G. Eithun (a.k.a. Faust; SCUM, ABORYM, ex-EMPEROR), are currently spending their time writing and rehearsing new material for their next studio assault. "The new stuff is brutal beyond belief and true fans of quality thrash metal won't be disappointed," the band write in a statement. "The plan is to hit Lion Heart Studio in Oslo, Norway during December this year and record a full-length album."
BLOOD TSUNAMI was formed in 2004 by guitarist and vocalist Pete Evil, who hooked up with Jay on drums and began to arrange and rehearse some metal riffs he had written, but never used during his years in the rock 'n' roll/punk band called HELLRIDE.
The music of BLOOD TSUNAMI was, and still is, nothing but vicious and aggressive old-school thrash metal, heavily influenced by early SLAYER, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, METALLICA, DESTRUCTION and KREATOR.
Soon Riff Randall joined on bass and Dor stepped in on the second guitar. Shortly after they recorded their first demo and on August 24, 2004 they performed their first show. This carnage took place at Last Train, a small rock 'n' roll bar downtown in Oslo, and BLOOD TSUNAMI played support for the mighty Swedish death metal legends ENTOMBED.
After a while, Riff Randall decided to leave the band and was quickly replaced by Bosse, who used to play bass with Pete in HELLRIDE. The band continued to play live and got to play support for another legendary band, namely DEICIDE from Florida. This happened at John Dee in Oslo on October 22, 2004.
Not many months later, Jay also decided to drop out of the band to focus on his work as a graphic designer. Determined to get BLOOD TSUNAMI back on track, Pete soon called up Faust and asked him to join the band. Faust liked what he heard and agreed to give it a try.
With a new lineup intact, the band hit Lion Heart Studios and during three days in July 2005 they recorded another demo. The outcome of this session can be heard at myspace.com/bloodtsunami (English) and NRK.no (Norwegian).
Aborym Set "Generator" As Fourth Album Title
Italian black metallers ABORYM, now featuring former EMPEROR and current SCUM drummer Bård "Faust" Eithun, have set "Generator" as the title of their fourth album, tentatively due before the end of the year via Season of Mist. According to a press release, "'Generator' holds the spirit of dark and unparalleled black metal bound together with a crushing death metal approach — all stitched up with the Italians' fantastic ability to naturally incorporate electronic elements and layers.
"Generator" features Eithun on drums, Prime Evil (MYSTICUM) on vocals, Fabban Malfeitor on bass, synth and backing vocals and Nysrokinfernalien on guitar and guitar synths.

Faust Joins Aborym
Former EMPEROR and current SCUM drummer Bård "Faust" Eithun has officially joined Italy's ABORYM as a a full-time member. "I am gonna go to Rome at the end of April to record the fourth album of these cyber black metallers," Faust said in a statement. "I am very excited to hear the result since this is the first time that ABORYM will combine acoustic, organic drums with the electronic beats they have used so far. Should be interesting I think."
In other news, Faust has joined the Norwegian "punk noisers" BOMBEROS, featuring former MAYHEM singer Maniac. "This is a nice break off to the metal music I normally play," Faust said. "The plan is not to conquer the world but rather just play music, do some gigs and fuck around a little."
SCUM, an all-new project featuring Faust, Samoth (ZYKLON, ex-EMPEROR), Happy Tom (TURBONEGRO), Casey Chaos (AMEN) and Cosmocrator (MINDGRINDER), recently recorded their debut album at Crystal Canyon Studio (TURBONEGRO, WE, EUROBOY) in Norway. Although no label or album title has been finalized, provisional songtitles include "Gospels for the Sick", "The Truth Will Be Sold" and "Hate the Sane".
