Shadow Of Doubt Posts "No Mercy"
"No Mercy," the debut EP by Texas hardcore outfit Shadow Of Doubt - founded by former core members of Bitter End, Hardside, and more - is approaching early June release through War Records, and today the title track has been issued.
The four-song EP was recorded in November 2016 by Phillip Odom (Ivy League) at Bad Wolf Studios, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Integrity, Power Trip, Nails). Offers Shadow Of Doubt guitarist Patrick Flanigan on the new track:
"I came up with the intro to 'No Mercy' first. There is a cool key change in the riff which I love doing, especially with heavy music. 'No Mercy' never really lets up. It stays hard hitting the whole time which I think makes it the strongest song on the EP. The song is very thrash influenced but with a lot of New York hardcore style to it, which really showcases our musical direction.
"The lyrics are about how we seem to be going backwards instead of progressing, and all of the consequences that come with that. I wrote the song right after the election so I was pretty pissed at the time. The theme of this EP and the title track is that you will get no mercy from this unrelenting world." More...
Shadow Of Doubt Signs With War Records
War Records today announces the signing of San Antonio-based hardcore quintet Shadow Of Doubt, with plans for releasing the band's new "No Mercy" EP in the coming months. The label comments:
"Formed in 2014, Shadow Of Doubt is a blue-collar powerhouse that is a major part of the new breed of Texas hardcore. Featuring former members of Bitter End, Hardside, and more, the band combines their love for crossover, hardcore, punk, and metal, with powerful and memorable riffs reminiscent of the classic NYHC sound, resulting in the perfect soundtrack for this modern age of quarrel.
"Shadow Of Doubt's new 'No Mercy' picks up right where the group's 2014 demo left off, combining crushing riffs in the vein of Cro-Mags and Leeway while maintaining a modern sound reminiscent of Mizery, Take Offense, and Beautiful Ones. The four-song EP was recorded in November 2016 by Phillip Odom (Ivy League) at Bad Wolf Studios, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Integrity, Power Trip, Nails)." More...
