Orange Goblin Announces Christmas Show Changes

Orange Goblin has issued the following update about line-up changes in their upcoming Christmas show on December 19th:

"It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that due to circumstances beyond the bands control, SOLACE will NOT be performing at the Orange Goblin show at The Scala, London on Saturday 19th December 2009.

"Boston's kings of Rock, ROADSAW will now be main support. The bill also features Centurions Ghost, Sons of Merrick and we are very happy to announce the addition of HONKEYFINGER!!! People may be familiar with Mr. Honkeyfinger as he guested on the track 'Beginner's Guide To Suicide' on the last OG album 'Healing Through Fire'! Honkeyfinger is the one man band from the bowels of the earth, erupting molten fuzz lapsteel, screaming harmonica riffs and desperate bestial howling in a scorching hot cocktail of heavy raw blues power. The Honkeyfinger sound hotwires the electric freak rock of vintage Beefheart, Blue Cheer, ZZTop, and Black Sabbath into a jumping, lurching monster. Boiling up the ghosts of Bukka White, Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker with the bones of the country blues, laced with the acid fried heaviosity of the Buttholes Surfers - this is the thick stinking soup that Mr.Honkeyfinger serves.

"Tickets for this show are selling out fast and numbers available on the door will be limited so to avoid disappointment please purchase yours in advance at this location or via The Scala box office (020 7833 2022)"

The Hidden Hand Announce Tour Dates

THE HIDDEN HAND, the band featuring hard rock guitar legend Scott "Wino" Weinrich (ST. VITUS, THE OBSESSED, SPIRIT CARAVAN), has scheduled the following dates:

Aug. 30 - The Ottobar - Baltimore, MD (w/ CHOWDER, FILTHY ROTTEN SEX MACHINE)
Aug. 31 - Bowery Ballroom (Royal Flush Release Party) - New York, NY (w/ CLUTCH, BEATALLICA)
Sep. 01 - The Brighton Bar - Long Branch, NJ (w/ SOLACE, BLACK IRISH, JOHN WILKES BOOTH)

THE HIDDEN HAND's latest full-length release, "The Resurrection of Whiskey Foote", came out in February. The CD is the third THE HIDDEN HAND full-length (second from Southern Lord) and features the lineup that recorded the now sold-out/out-of-print "Devoid of Color" EP from last year: Scott "Wino" Weinrich (guitars, vocals), Bruce Falkinburg (bass) and Evan Tanner (drums).

"The Resurrection of Whiskey Foote" is not necessarily a concept album but it is heavily layered with historical story-based lyricism and themse. Musically there is a subtle southern or classic rock vibe (ala killer slide playing from Wino and even some harp by Michael Anthony Miller) that creeps into the foundation of their brand of dark, heavy, progressive rock.

"With this in mind, we have teamed up with UK UNSIGNED, (www.gigsonline.co.uk/rock ) a charity whose aim is to promote and develop unsigned UK based artists, from which the Rock and Metal field is one of the largest."

"Expect to see at least 8 bands on Saturday 15th July on the second stage, each having competed to win a place to play, and each welcoming your support and giving them a great reception! Solace Benefit Show, "The Kennefit," Details

Solace, one of the premier doom bands, were dealt a near-fatal blow when their drummer, Kenny Lund, was diagnosed with cancer this past spring. The band had every intention of following up on the success of last year’s "13" (MeteorCity), having played to unanimous raves at 2004’s Emissions from the Monolith and Stoner Hands of Doom festivals and releasing a split CD with Albany’s Greatdayforup. But with Kenny going in for treatment, the band’s plans were put on hold.

While it’s fortunate that Kenny’s recovering quicker than expected, there are still a considerable amount of medical bills involved. As such, friends of Solace are getting together to help raise money. The StonerRock.com sponsored “Kennefit” is an all day show in New York City, taking place at both the Pyramid and at the legendary CBGBs on Saturday, December 18, 2004.

The line-up is as follows: More...
