Oni Comments On Upcoming Tour
Oni has been particularly busy this year, working up the metal ladder and now announcing a further expansion to the band's lengthy fall touring schedule by joining the I Worship Chaos Tour line-up.
The trek features headliners Children of Bodom and fellow special guests Abbath and Exmortus. The tour kicks off on November 23rd in Quebec City, QC and runs for nearly a month, ending in Brooklyn, NY on December 19.
Oni frontman Jake Oni states, "We're so happy to a part of the I Worship Chaos Tour! It's a huge honor to be on the road with Children Of Bodom. We can't wait to tear it up every night and continue to show people what Oni is all about."
The band will perform in additional cities prior to the I Worship Chaos Tour. Leading up to a show at this year's Knotfest, the band will perform six headline dates in California. Following Knotfest, Oni will join up with Max & Iggor Cavalera's Return To Roots tour and play select dates through October 21st. See below for all currently confirmed Oni tour dates. More...
Oni Posts "Eternal Recurrence" Video
"Eternal Recurrence" soars as Oni's first of several planned singles cut from upcoming full-length album, "Ironshore," scheduled to hit stores this fall.
Today marks the release of a new music video for "Eternal Recurrence," which can be seen below. Directed by Abraham Roofeh and filmed in vocalist Jake Oni's home locale of the Cayman Islands, the video depicts a man running from a mysterious masked assailant - but is this assailant really a stranger?
Oni frontman Jake Oni states, "It was a pleasure filming the video in the Cayman Islands. It's very convenient working from home, although the performance was brutal at times. When the guys and myself were done filming, we couldn't even walk the next day! After headbanging for what felt like an eternity, there was nothing better than laying on the ground!
"When we first saw the treatment for the video, it was hard to imagine how it would turn out, however it exceeded all of our expectations. The sunny island felt more dystopian than anything else and our director captured the meaning of the song and the look of the band perfectly. Overall, it was a blast to work on and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!" More...
Oni Streaming "Eternal Recurrence"
In Japanese folklore, the Oni is a malevolent shape shifting demon, able to take on many guises as it spreads pain and misery. The constantly shifting, ever-evolving sound of Ontario, Canada's Oni is no less elusive, though unlike the group's namesake, amidst the brutality and violence is woven great beauty, and a breadth of heartfelt emotion.
Look for Oni's debut offering out late summer/early fall, which was produced by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, All That Remains). Oni is also currently out on tour as direct support to Devil You Know, and a brand new track titled "Eternal Recurrence" can be heard below. More...
