Dethbeds Streaming Full Album
"Dungeon Scum," the debut album by Chicago-based metallic hardcore/punk quartet Dethbeds, is now streaming in its breakneck entirety just days ahead of its independent release.
Issues bassist Dave Stach on the efforts culminated in this debut LP: "Dungeon Scum is the product of ten years' time; ten years of influences, ten years of growth. The record as a whole embodies the shifts our band has encountered over this time whether it was a move from Michigan to the city of Chicago or changes in the bands lineup. In the end it is a reflection of ourselves; purposefully disjointed from track to track but as an overall package it's the product of our influences, personalities, and struggles."
Dethbeds will independently release "Dungeon Scum" on single-sided 12" vinyl, cassette, and digital formats this Friday, October 14th. A week following the release, Dethb eds will begin a tour of the Midwestern states in support of the album.

Dethbeds Releasing "Dungeon Scum"
Chicago-based group Dethbeds will issue a debut recording through the independent release of "Dungeon Scum" early this fall. A newly-formed outfit, Dethbeds unites a host of influence from a wide array of musical backgrounds, resulting in a volatile concoction of angular metallic, punk-fueled hardcore.
Formed in Owosso, Michigan where vocalist Zac LeDuc, guitarist Patrick Dignan, and drummer Ray Knipe grew up together, the outfit united with Dave Stach who joined on bass, after which the band transplanted to Chicago.
The majority of Dethbeds' newly completed "Dungeon Scum" debut LP was written in Michigan, before the band was a fully realized project. Following the migration to Chicago, the band fine-tuned these tracks and recorded the album with Adam Stilson at Decade Music Studios, after which the album was mastered by Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room, and completed with cover art by Tom Jenkins at Black Eagle Press. The record's seven-track attack takes place within a seventeen-minute spread, resulting in a rabid, explosive delivery. More...

Pig Destroyer At Reggies Rock Club
Whoever decided to book the Abbath, High On Fire and Skeletonwitch tour date on the same day as a Pig Destroyer show deserves to be shot. After seeing how many people turned up to see PD, I feel really sorry for everyone involved with the Abbath tour.
Then again, it might not have been as dire for them since metal's grown larger as it has grown more diverse. I was surprised by the amount of people over 40, women and people dressed like they just got out of work at an office job. Usually metal shows – particularly for bands as brutal as Pig Destroyer – attract a audience of mostly 18-35-year-old working class males. Then again, since anyone who isn't part of that demographic is treated as a complete pariah by TV executives and aren't allowed to be couch potatoes, it's only natural that they'd show up to see Pig Destroyer. After all, metal is ultimately a genre for the dispossessed misfits of society. More...
