Germany's Vanden Plas has checked in with the following update about releasing a follow-up to latest album "The Seraphic Clockwork:"
"First of all - sorry for the long time without some V.P. news - after we finally finished the new album (release January '14) Andy played - berger in 'hair' - in 21 sold out shows 42.000 people were watching in Augsburg a very unique stageplay on one of the most beautiful outdoor stages in Europe.
"During this time the rest of the band were playing very successful 'aida' in Kaiserslautern. And now - we slowly want to work off all the news for you. Be prepared for many many upcoming Vanden Plas facts during the next months. All the best to all our friends out there - and we hope you had a very great summer!"

For the long-running USA metal festival, ProgPower USA, metalheads typically have no problems driving or flying from all across the country. Where else can you see sixteen mostly international bands, all of whom are pushing their own abilities and the boundaries of metal, over a two-day period? Now in its twelfth year, ProgPower takes place in Atlanta, Georgia at the Center Stage venue. Run by Glenn Harveston, who is first and foremost a fan, the festival spans the days of Friday and Saturday, September 16th and 17th, but officially kicked off on Thursday. The Swedish band Evergrey also performed an all-acoustic show at The Loft on Wednesday.
The show lineup, as announced on ProgPowerUSA.com, is as follows:
Thursday - Powerglove, Vanden Plas, Evergrey
Friday - Creation's End, Darkwater, Voyager, Eldritch, Mob Rules, Ihsahn, Sanctuary
Saturday - Haken, While Heaven Wept, Red Circuit, Labyrinth, Forbidden, Therion
On Thursday morning, I had packed and left Nashville, TN, driving four hours to get down to Atlanta, which was further away than I thought. Upon reaching the venue, I was instantly impressed. Center Stage has air conditioning, several bar areas, a spacious interior, and seats as well as a pit area. By metal’s standards, this was the music venue equivalent of a Four Seasons hotel. I met with Swedish melodic metal kings Evergrey for a very entertaining interview before the show. Immediately after, I also met with the well-spoken and well-trained video-game metal iconoclasts, Powerglove.
During sound check, the speakers in the lobby were playing what was coming off of the sound board, which meant that guests checking in or buying tickets were treated to Evergrey and Vanden Plas warming up. The Evergrey sneak preview was definitely notable, because the band was warming up material from their album, “In Search of Truth,” which they were to play through from start to finish in their first set. This was the first time they had done such a set, and as I learned in the interview, not expected to be done again in the near future. More...

Finnish metallers, CELESTY, have finished the recordings of their fourth studio album. The mixing of the album will begin in November/December after the renovation of the studio is finished. Meanwhile the band is furiously rehearsing the new material for their upcoming live shows.
"The recordings were completed without any major problems and we’re happy to announce the new album will sound extremely massive and bombastic! The mixing process will be a serious challenge for Samu Oittinen of Fantom Studio since the songs have so many tracks – in fact, we’re getting close to the Finnish record of amount of tracks on an album!”, says Jere Luokkamäki, the drummer of Celesty. This year's ProgPower UK, which was scheduled for March 28-29 in Bristol, England, has been cancelled. The following message has been posted on wwwww.progpoweruk.com:
"This is the hardest decision we have ever had to make, but it is with great regret that we have had to cancel ProgPower UK III.
"We have made no secret of the financial difficulties that have dogged our first two years, which is why we made a significant number of changes for year three. However, ticket sales have been extremely poor and, as a result, there is no way we can stage the festival without losing a substantial amount of money – again.
"This decision has not been taken lightly and we are fully aware of both the disappointment and inconvenience it will cause. However, we simply cannot afford to keep pumping money into ProgPower UK and we can assure you that we are as disappointed about this as you no doubt are.
"As a result of this, ProgPower UK LLP will cease trading with immediate effect.
"Ticket holders who purchased tickets via cheque or Paypal through the ProgPowerUK website will be refunded by the method through which the tickets were purchased. This will be done within twenty-eight days.
"If you purchased tickets at Bristol Ticket Shop, please contact them directly for a refund.
"Please direct any enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org All enquiries will be dealt with, but please be patient.
"We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us over the past three years, and also thank Rene Janssen and his team giving us the opportunity to make ProgPower UK a reality.

Amaseffer is the new band from Andy Kuntz, lead singer of German progressive metal band Vanden Plas.
The story of Exodus will be told in the eventual trilogy of albums with the Hebrew name of Amaseffer referring to the name chosen for the Israelites in the Bible. Originating from Israel, the musical side of Amaseffer features Yuval Kramer (guitar), Hanan Abramovitch (guitar) and Erez Yohanan (drums). The unique progressive sound of the trilogy is a mixture of Middle Eastern spices with an epic, cinematic scope polished with philharmonic orchestrations.
Andy Kuntz will co-produce the albums with the second and third albums due nine and eighteen months respectively after the release of the first album.
