Tourniquet Comments On Vocalist Situation

Last year Tourniquet parted ways with the band's vocalist and since then there's been no solid announcement on a replacement. The band has now issued an update to fans with this statement:

"Hey everyone, I know most of you are wondering who the singer will be for the new Tourniquet album. Here's the best I have for you right now: The choice has been narrowed down to a very short list, all of whom are great vocalists. There will be awesome 'singing' on the album, but 100% for sure - as there is on almost all Tourniquet albums - there will also be 'screaming,' 'thrash vocals,' or whatever you want to call it.

"For me, some music just calls for a very aggressive delivery that only works with that style. I've said this before, but just because you stand up and yell into a mic doesn't mean you're any good at it (like if I would try to do it) much less that it sounds cool on an album. That being said, the singer and the screamer will likely be two different people, as you see in countless bands who effectively employ both types of vocals. More...

Tourniquet Issues Update On Band's Future

After the band parted ways with vocalist Luke Easter, Ted Kirkpatrick from Tourniquet has issued the following statement to fans:

"Hey everyone. Just a quick update on the present and future of Tourniquet. First, Tourniquet is not going away. I have more than a lifetime of music to give, and God willing, I plan to share it with whoever would like to hear it, just as I always have – under the name Tourniquet.

"The classical influence, the medical terminology, the allegories to nature, the beautiful and the ugly sounds, the fast and the slow, the ordinary and the unexpected, the triumphs and challenges to faith and hope – all these things you the fans have indicated you like about our music – will continue - and continue in new ways.

"The new material is very heavy (and sometimes beautiful), and full of melody and twists. Vocals will be with a new singer – not a collection of vocalists (although I love doing that, as you know by now – wait ‘til you hear the guys on the Sabbath tunes!)

"So – thank you all for hanging in there – onward to 2016 and beyond – and a very Happy New Year to you all!" More...

Tourniquet Parts With Vocalist

Tourniquet just issued this announcement online about parting ways with long-time vocalist Luke Easter:

"By mutual and respectful agreement, Luke Easter has stepped down as vocalist of Tourniquet. Luke has been a valuable member of Tourniquet since 1993 and we have shared much music, ministry, and laughter. I will always appreciate his valuable contribution to our music and his representation of the band – and I know many of you will too. We’ve decided that our musical paths are not quite going in the same direction. Luke has been, and is - a great friend. I truly wish the best for him and look forward to seeing whatever his future holds.”

Luke had this to say: "In June, 1993, my life changed. I joined Tourniquet and began a musical journey that has lasted more than two decades. I got the opportunity to see the world; to meet and work with amazing people; to contribute to a body of work that I am proud of; and in the process I was able to share Christ with people all over the world. I am grateful to have been a part of Tourniquet, and to have had the chance to work with someone as talented and prolific as Ted for as long as I have." More...

The Tourniquet Ark Launches Kickstarter Campaign

The Tourniquet Ark - a project from Tourniquet's Ted Kirkpatrick - has launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowd fund a new album.

You can check out full details on the campaign, including available perks for backers, at this location. The Tourniquet Ark also issued this statement:

"My name is Ted Kirkpatrick. I am the drummer and main songwriter in the band Tourniquet. I love animals and I despise animal abuse. I have been so blessed by all of you who have joined me at The Tourniquet Ark – where animal welfare meets Tourniquet - thank you! We have had some great comments and discussions here. I’m asking you now to take a new step and join me in making a cool - and I believe, worthwhile album. If my goal is reached, I promise to get this album in as many hands and to as many ears as possible.

"After a very successful Tourniquet Kickstarter campaign in early 2011 (thank you Tourniquet fans) I hopefully have a good idea of some really cool rewards to give out. I hope you’ll agree there is some great rewards on this one!

"If funded, the money will go for studio time, production costs, mixing, guest musicians (should be cool), artwork, merchandise, advertising, manufacturing – wow – I may be missing a thing or three, but you get the idea!

"Your pledge will allow us to make this possible together: – to encourage people to develop a 'compassion for creation,' connecting it to their daily lives. I believe this is the perfect time to do an album for musicians, fans, and anyone else who is willing to look at the plight of animals. The momentum has never been stronger and it’s not going away. American journalist and two time Pulitzer prize winner Nicholas Kristof speaks about animal protection as a critical moral question in today's society. 'Society will indeed look back on this time and wonder how humanity could have been so callous and cruel in its treatment of innocent and vulnerable creatures.' I think he’s right. Thank you all."

Tourniquet Releasing Instrumental Album

Tourniquet has checked in with the following announcement about releasing an instrumental version of the band's latest album:

"On March 1st, 2013, we are able to do something that fans have been requesting on virtually all the Tourniquet albums. For lack of a better term, due to the 'musical' nature of our tunes, people have often asked 'Can you also release this as an instrumental album?' With Antiseptic Bloodbath 'VOICELESS' – we are doing just that.

"The album has been remastered in New York specifically as an instrumental release and it sounds amazing. There are no vocals and no voices – it is 'voiceless.' What remains is the music, including all the awesome guitar solos.

"My songwriting, as many of you know, comes in part from a deep passion for classical music, so to release Antiseptic Bloodbath in its entirety as an instrumental piece seems quite natural. The song structures become more transparent and move further to the front – so you will notice and hear things you hadn’t before. Aaron’s two songs add a cool element to the album – recorded on guitars tuned higher in the key of E Flat instead of low C. More...

Tourniquet Posts New Album In-Studio Footage

Tourniquet will be returning this summer with a new album titled "Antiseptic Bloodbath," and the band has now posted an in-studio video clip from the recording process. Check out the video in the YouTube player available below.

Tourniquet also previous commented on the album:

"The title track, Antiseptic Bloodbath, speaks of the way our society prefers to sanitize brutality. We can have our tidy Christian faith, or continue with no faith at all, as long as we don't consider the painful bloody price that was paid for us.

"We use animals for our food, profit, and amusement, but would rather not know about the needless, often systematic suffering that is inflicted on them by a callous and greedy humanity. 'Don't upset my comfort zone - brutal truth, leave me alone.' The great news is that we have the ability to choose. This album encourages us to make good and humane choices in our daily lives that reflect these images." More...

"The crowd was awesome too! There will be songs included that have never been on any live TOURNIQUET video or DVD before — 'The Tomb of Gilgamesh' and 'Skeezix Part II', to name a couple. Also included will be songs from 'Where Moth and Rust Destroy', and of course, some old favorites."
