Track-by-Track for The Order of Elijah's New Album

Today Metalunderground.com has the exclusive track-by-track breakdown for The Order of Elijah’s new album, “Pathos. Logos. Ethos.” by lead vocalist Shannon Low. “Pathos. Logos. Ethos.” is out now on Luxor Records.

1. E Pluribus Unum - This song is a message from the American Government to YOU. They had quite a bit to say. Don't kill me, I'm just the messenger ;)

2. Highly Functioning Sociopath - This was one of the first attempts at writing about myself in a universal fashion. I think many of us, deep down, are becoming highly functioning sociopaths. Due to the overwhelming charge of being a human, many of us can only reflect on the past in order to determine why we are the way we are. This song is about finding strengths in your weaknesses and finding weaknesses in your enemies strengths.

3. Meaning of Life - This song is a direct referral to the notion that secularists cannot have meaning nor morality without adhering to a mythological god belief. It seems borderline unstable to say that one would be out killing and raping if they were to simply come to the conclusion that their beliefs are driven by sheer circumstance and localized tradition. This song highlights some of the imperative parts of our existence in a universal aspect that life is already beautiful and amazing without fairies in the garden.

4. Kill Your Masters - This song has a satirical twist on our society's addiction to screens. The song is urging the listener to look up and take in the beauty of the world rather than dedicate your hours to a slightly radiated screen of bright colors. America has become the consuming capital of the world and our addiction to screens is highly correlated with that disorder.

5. 1% - The elite rich dictate much of our daily lives. Depending on what the top 1% bourgeois are concerned with at that time in history determines what the rest of us are concerned with at that time in history. Corporations determine the clothes we wear, the topics we discuss, and the leaders we follow. This song is about those people. Musically, it turned out to be one of the most innovative songs we have composed over the years.

6. Hitchens Butterfly - This song was point blank written out of anger, which is rare for me. The music is some of the heaviest riffs we have compiled, occasionally reminding me of early Suicide Silence. We intentionally made this one out to be brutal in order to highlight the angry lyrics. Plus I had to give a shout out to my man Christopher Hitchens ;)

7. Cut From The Strings - This song is discussing ideas in the form of addiction. In our rampant, modern-day culture, ideas are extremely contagious. News sources are undependable which leave the public at risk of believing whatever appeals closest to their own biases. This is happening on every side of the spectrum. Cut From the Strongs is about separating oneself from that addictive behavior toward ideas and learning to rely on critical thinking and humanism to determine reality.

8. Secular Nation - Secular Nation is speaking from The People unto the elitists. Claiming independence from meaningless thought crimes that society dictates as a norm. The song eventually takes a stance against outdated ideologies and passes the baton to a more scientifically enriched civilization.

9. Nothing But Sky - This song is written about overcoming the shackles of dogma through a series of empowering gestures. The tempo is upbeat and energetic while the lyrics begin as a frantic overlay of realizations.

10. Answers - This song strikes me as a heavy ballad. I left it last on the album for a reason. The lyrics are somewhat of a letter to our older fans. I was hesitant to put this one on the album but she seemed to fit. This song was our attempt to step outside of our normal writing box.

“We recorded this video in northern Michigan. I remember the mosquitos were waging war on us all night. 'From The Dawn' is a song that we spent a lot of writing time focusing on a more innovative approach to this album.
