Gomorrah unleashed new album "The Haruspex" on January 15th, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records. Guitarist Bowen Matheson comments on the album:
"Jeff Bryan and I recorded the album at my home here in the Okanagan Valley, and we did the absolute majority of the writing in the pre-production and production stages. So much of the material had existed from several years ago, but was completely overhauled and reworked several times to end up in these tracks.
"We weren't afraid to try things out and work over several revisions, or to take our hands off of a few of the songs that we felt very comfortable with after only the first revision. Jeff wrote the lyrics for the tracks in less than two months, and a lot of them were written and finalized in the vocal tracking stage, in front of the microphone. More...

"Jeff Bryan and I recorded the album at my home here in the Okanagan Valley, and we did the absolute majority of the writing in the pre-production and production stages. So much of the material had existed from several years ago, but was completely overhauled and reworked several times to end up in these tracks.

Jeff wrote the lyrics for the tracks in less than two months, and a lot of them were written and finalized in the vocal tracking stage, in front of the microphone.
"We weren't afraid to enable our music with production techniques. Many reviews have figured that we used samples or synthesizers in the songs, however the reality is that all of these droning noises, stutters, and otherwise 'industrial' sounds are actually either electric guitar or bass guitar, and abusing these instruments in front of their amplifiers with only two guitar effect pedals. The rest of these noises you hear are the interaction with the instrument and their environment.
"We then delivered all of the tracks to Stuart McKillop of Rain City Recorders for mixing, and he blew us away. It didn't take him long at all to catch onto what we were going for, and his consistency from one track to the next brought the tracks to the highest musical apex they could reach. Brad Boatright of Audiosiege handled the mastering, and he made certain that the product was of the outstanding final production quality for us. Brad has really yielded an outstanding quality for so many other abrasive sub-genres of metal and hardcore and he delivered that exact pinnacle of quality for us on this record as well." More...
Gomorrah Posts "Nine Kings Of Sulphur"
Kelowna, BC's death metal architects from Gomorrah just premiered new single "Nine Kings of Sulphur," taken off upcoming album "The Haruspex." Check it out below.
The new album is due out on January 15th, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records to follow the band's 2013 debut album "Perception." Vocalist Jeff Bryan comments on the new track:
"'Nine Kings of Sulphur' was the second last track we wrote for the record and it written very impromptu. We didn't do many revisions of it and I did all the vocals freestyle in the studio, but the finished product makes me want to heave a body into a chasm."

Pit Stories: The Weird Things Fans Do
Update: Our apologies to Gomorrah, half this story was accidentally cut when this first went live!
Ready for another bout of Pit Stories metal fans? This week we've got a tale from Bowen Matheson of Canadian group Gomorrah, who shares an experience about the bizarre behavior sometimes exhibited by fans:
We played two local all-ages hardcore shows in Kelowna, BC in close succession in the fall of 2013, one before and after the release of "Perception." The first was with the bands Contention and Slumlord, and there was a kid in the pit who went up to Phil from Slumlord during their set and yelled into the strings of his guitar. He looked at this kid with the most fucked expression of disdain and confusion I’ve ever seen.
At the next show we were playing in support of Fall City Fall, and during our set same kid came up to me and tried to do the same thing. He ran in super fast, but this time actually made contact with the strings of my guitar, muting what I was playing. Kid basically went to first base with my guitar, and fucked up what I was playing. I wasn’t happy about this, so I grabbed the kid by his face and threw him away from me and my now tainted guitar. A buddy of mine saw the whole thing happen, and said that after I threw him, he looked back at me like I was the dick in the situation, and I just huffed my cheeks at him like an angry horse.
Several months go by, and we are playing another all ages hardcore show in Kelowna. A kid comes up to me, introduces himself, and explains to me that he was the kid in mention. He tried to tell me that it was “kind of his thing at shows” and nobody had ever gotten mad at him for doing that before. I recognized that this guy was basically telling me that I was the dick in the conversation, and he was trying to justify it again. It took me a great deal of self control to not explode on him, and instead I explained how getting in somebodies personal space and doing shit like that when they are performing is not okay. He seemed to have to consciously think about what I was telling him for it to make rational sense. I don’t know if he thought he was doing some flattering thing by doing that, but it is one of the weirdest things I’ve seen happen, then have happen to me at a show by the same mislead teenager.
Granted, it's not quite napping in the bass bin or pregnant moshing, but that's still weird. Let us know - what's the most baffling thing YOU'VE seen a fan do at a metal show? More...

Gomorrah Streams "Dismantling The Throne"
Kelowna, BC's leading death metal architects from Gomorrah have released new single "Dismantling The Throne" off upcoming album "The Haruspex," which is due out on Jan 15, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records. Guitarist Bowen Matheson comments on the track:
“This track started out as a back burner track, and it basically re-wrote itself in the studio. Jeff had no set vocal patterns written for it, but when he did the black metal influenced high vocals at the beginning I knew the exact direction we needed to take with it. I wrote the entire solo based entirely off of a one take improvised solo that I did for the track in pre-production. It all came together so easily and it became one of the strongest tracks on the record."
The previously posted track "Sitra Achra" taken off "The Haruspex" is still available for streaming over at this location. More...
Gomorrah Streaming "Sitra Achra"
Kelowna, BC's death metal architects from Gomorrah are now streaming new single "Sitra Achra," taken off their upcoming album "The Haruspex," which is due out on January 15th, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records.
The follow-up to 2013 debut album "Perception" is available for pre-order here. The band comments on the new track "Sitra Achra" available below:
“Sitra Achra is the realm where evil is birthed through the discarding of the remnants of the Sephirot. These remnants are the dark opposition of the holy light, which create the Kings of Sulphur. The Kings are summoned forth, undoing creation in our plane of existence. The instrumentation was based off of a demo track from 2011, with alterations by key change, rewritten drum and bass guitar parts, rhythm guitar influence from Cannibal Corpse and Archspire, and lyrical content and vocal structure to fit the narrative concept of the album."
